Bless the Lord
Focus Word - Praise
Focus Verse - Psalm 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.
1. Praise is a continual lifestyle. Because God is an all-seasons God, a child of God is also an all-seasons child. Praise is not limited to good days. Praise is a daily spiritual posture. God is worthy of praise, in abundance and in adversity. Your love song to Jesus is a powerful weapon!
Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
2. Praise is a spiritual sacrifice.
Psalm 50:23 Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.
Psalm 107:22 Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.
Praise offered when things are difficult becomes a powerful sacrifice. Paul and Silas praised and worshipped God when they were physically and emotionally wounded, in deep pain and embarrassment. Yet, they were praying and singing hymns to God at midnight. Would you be able to sing praises to God in the darkest nights of your life?
3. Praise invites God’s presence.
Psalm 22:3 But You are holy, O You that inhabit the praises of Israel.
God is enthroned when praise arises.
2 Chronicles 5: 13,14 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.
While murmuring activates the demonic realm, the angelic realm becomes activated when you praise God.
4. Praise defeats the enemy.
2 Chronicles 20:21,22 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.
Praise is a weapon of spiritual warfare. Honor God and His presence by praising Him, and His glory will descend in your homes; just as how Obed-Edom and his household was immensely blessed when he housed the Ark of the Covenant for three months.
5. Praise releases joy and strength.
Nehemiah 8:10 Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Praise fuels inner strength. Complaining drains energy, whereas praising God renews it.
6. Praise prepares us for victory.
Psalm 149:6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands.
Praise prepares the believer to walk in victory. “Let Judah go up first," based on Judges 1:2 and 20:18, is a biblical principle where God directs the tribe of Judah (meaning "praise") to lead in battle or face challenges first. It signifies that praise should precede victory, allowing God to fight battles and orchestrate situations for good.
Declaration - Praise is my weapon today. I will worship through every battle and see victory.
