Psalm 121:7 The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life.
Declaration: I am under the covering of the Almighty. No weapon formed against me will prosper.
Protection is not something we chase; protection is something we live under. The rock rabbit or Coney is a small mammal that lives in rocky areas for shelter from predators ( Proverbs 30.26). Similarly, we too can abide in the shadow of the Almighty, the Rock of Ages. You are not exposed, you are not vulnerable. You are covered, you are protected. You will be living with confidence, and not with fear, because of the protection God is giving you.
Psalm 121 is a song of ascents sung by pilgrims as they journey toward Jerusalem. On this journey, they face long roads, hidden dangers and unknown threats; all of which is reflected in these songs. And yet, they lift their eyes to the hills and declare that God is my keeper. The Lord is my shade at my right hand; He will watch over my coming and going both now and forevermore.
Your protection comes from the Lord! However, God’s protection does not mean there won’t be any challenges and there will be no opposition and no battles. It means - ‘No Ultimate Harm’. God’s protection is personal and continual. He will watch over your life. He watches over your going out and coming in; He watches over what you see and what you do not see. That’s where you receive His supernatural protection. Many times, it’s God’s angels whom He has sent to minister to us that delivers us from hidden dangers, and we’ll never know about it.
Protection is the result of divine covering. To be protected is to be covered. God covers us by His presence, with God’s power and God’s promises. That awareness of God’s protection produces peace. When you know you are protected, anxiety flees.
When the people of Israel were released from their slavery in Egypt on the Passover Night, all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well were struck down. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead. However, the people of Israel were protected by the blood of the Passover Lamb (symbolizing the blood of Jesus) that was put on the top and on both sides of the doorframe.
Always look up, unto Jesus, the place of supreme help. If you look down, you’ll be depressed. He will not let your foot slip in your journey of life. He is the perfect sentinel. He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep. All your journeys will be safe. God is an all-season God and He will keep you from all harm!
