Prayer Power

Focus verse: James 5:16 says Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Declaration: My prayers carry power today, heaven responds as I intercede with faith.

4 things about Prayer Power:

1. Prayer connects earth to heaven.

Prayer is not just words spoken on earth, it is communication with heaven. When a believer prays, God listens and divine resources are released into human situations. There is no prayer that goes unheard by God, He hears everything! The problem lies in the response that we receive, if it is late or not what we want to hear etc. 
We need to pray scripture-woven prayers. 

Jeremiah 33:3 says ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

This is a verse that is commonly dubbed as the phone number of Jesus!

Matthew 7:7 says “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Psalms 145:18 says The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Take a look at a landline or telephone, it connects two distant places. Just like that prayer connects a weak human heart to an all powerful God. 

2. Righteous living makes prayer powerful.

James teaches that prayer becomes powerful when it flows from a righteous life. 
Obedience and holiness give confidence and authority  in prayer.

Proverbs 15:29 says The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

Psalms 66:18 says If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;

1 John 3:22 says and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.

A pure heart allows God’s power to flow through prayer. 

3. Faith turns prayer into action.

Prayer without faith becomes routine whereas prayer with faith becomes force. Faith believes before it sees and trusts God for results. 
Mark 11:24 says Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Hebrews 11:6 says And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Matthew 21:22 says "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Faith turns prayer into spiritual power!

4. Prayer produces real breakthroughs.

Throughout the Bible, prayer changed impossible situations. We can see this through chains breaking, doors opening, sickness fleeing, and nations being  transformed. 

Acts 12:5-7 says 5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. 6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.

1 Kings 18:36-38 says 36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” 38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

Acts 4:31 says After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Prayer is not our last option, it is our FIRST weapon! 
Prayer is not the spare wheel but the steering wheel. 
God has given us the privilege of partnering with Him through prayer. 
 When righteous people pray in faith, heaven moves and earth changes.
