How to Seek God’s Wisdom

How to Seek God’s Wisdom
The focus phrase for today is Wisdom to Build.
The focus verse for today is Proverbs 24:3 says, ‘By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established;’
Declaration for today is - The Spirit of Wisdom guides me today; every decision I make adds strength to what I am building.
Wisdom is the foundation of every lasting structure
A house is built not by excitement. Building times are exciting times, but it is not the excitement of an individual that actually builds the house. Once I heard Pastor Naomi Dowdy say this - building a church is the most exciting of time, where more and more people are coming to hear the word, there is a deep revival taking place, water baptisms are on the rise, those times are truly exciting. However, merely being excited does not help in truly laying the foundation and building a church. To build a church you need Godly wisdom. Wisdom is applied knowledge, truth or information. It is knowing what to do, when to do and how to do it.
James 1:5 says, ‘If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.’
Anyone who lacks wisdom must ask God who gives generously to all who ask in his name.
Proverbs 4:7 says, ‘The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.’
Matthew 7:24 says, ‘Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.’
A wise man builds his house on the rock, and in spiritual terms, this rock is God. He is the rock of ages. Hence we must build our life on this rock. Many start building with passion, but few build with wisdom. The one who lays their foundation on Christ, will see their generations thrive and grow even after ages. Going back to the parable where Jesus talks about the man who built the house on sand versus the one who built on rock - the one who built their house on sand, completed the works quickly, inviting guests and others to their abode to celebrate. The one who built on the rock took time. They dug through and slowly laid the foundation. However as seasons changed, his rock stood solid on the ground, but the man built his own sand, saw it all go away. Before you make a decision, always ask, am I resting on revelation or reaction?
Understanding establishes what wisdom begins
We need wisdom to build our house, and so do we need understanding. Understanding means insight, it tells you how things work beneath the surface.
Colossians 1:9 says, ‘For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives’
We need Godly wisdom, knowledge and understanding to build a house that lasts.
Psalms 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.’
Many people don’t think and jump into doing things without Godly consultation. This results in results that are not long lasting in nature. I know of stories where people built homes, and are happy on their first day in their new home, however, soon reality sets in, they are worried about paying EMI’s and loans, which results in restlessness and a lack of peace. All of this could even result in the person having to sell their home. The reason for this is, not using wisdom when making decisions.
A tree grows upward only because its roots grow downward. The root is able to lay a good foundation for the tree and establish the tree. This allows the tree to grow upwards. It is important that as individuals we must be grounded and rooted in word, seeking God;s wisdom, knowledge and understanding in everything we do. At the same time, we must look upwards to the Lord, seeking him and waiting for his divine timing in all that we do. If you want longevity in ministry, relationship, marriage, career you must seek wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
Wisdom is a daily decision, not a one time event
Wisdom is a daily decision, just like you don’t build your life or house around one decision. In fact it is a lifetime of decision making that builds your life. To build a house, everyday you lay bricks. In our life these bricks are choices, words, reactions and habits.
Proverbs 16:3 says, ‘Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.’
Ephesians 5:15-16 says, ‘15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.’
Luke 16:10 says, ‘“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.’
It is important to be wise and trustworthy in the small, because wisdom shows up in daily decisions. A master builder measures twice and gets it right and does not need to build a second time. Hence it is important to consult heaven before you commit to any plans.
The Spirit of wisdom builds what hell cannot break
Human intelligence can construct but only divine wisdom can preserve.
1 Corinthians 3:10 says, ‘ By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.’
Isaiah 33:6 says, ‘He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.’
Proverbs 3:19 says, ‘By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place;’
Even God builds with wisdom. He laid the foundation of the earth by wisdom. When God gives wisdom, he gives durability also, which means that this wisdom will be in you all through your life. When a storm blows through, it hits every house in the same way, but the durability of the house depends on its structure.
