Worship Generates Great Joy
In the past episodes we learned that a person that is a true worshipper receives blessings. This is not someone who blasts worship music loudly, but someone who truly worships from the heart.
Secondly we say that when worshiping, the lost are drawn to the saved.
A worshipper also receives strength and boldness to preach the gospel. They also receive a deeper revelation of Christ and His presence.
Worship also helps us receive guidance on what steps to take. It also gives us freedom.
The seventh result of worshipping God is that worship brings joy.
1 Chronicles 29:21-22
21 The next day they made sacrifices to the Lord and presented burnt offerings to him: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams and a thousand male lambs, together with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. 22 They ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the Lord that day.
Then they acknowledged Solomon son of David as king a second time, anointing him before the Lord to be ruler and Zadok to be priest.
David was a great worshipper, he was a man after God’s own heart. He would worship right from a young age and discern many things from God.
David instructed the Israelites to worship God. The whole community came together and worshipped God and the next day, they sacrificed to God. A thousand bulls is a big number! We can only imagine the amount of land that would be needed to sacrifice 3000 animals. Then, they ate and drank with great joy in God’s presence!
This joy is an antidote to depression. When you worship, the joy that arises can erase all depression. Here, Solomon was becoming King and Zadok, priest. There was great joy on this occasion in the presence of God.
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Worship gives us the access to joy that surrounds God’s presence. When you leave His presence, you lose this joy.
Luke 24:52,53 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
If you read from verse 44 onwards, you see that this is right before Jesus’ ascension to heaven. He opens the disciples' minds to understand the Word of God and blesses them. He tells them to wait for the Holy Spirit and stay in the city. While He blesses them, He is raised to heaven.
After this, they worshipped Him and were filled with great joy. When you go to worship God, you return with great joy!
