New Sandals For You
Many Christian believers do not understand the true value of salvation, the salvation package or all the contained gifts of this. Once you are born again you are unlike others who have not been saved. We have become a new creation, very different from our old identity. Our thinking, our lifestyle and everything else should be different from a normal person.
This difference comes into action the moment we depart this earth. We see an eternity of difference because we will never meet people who are not saved
Mathew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Generally we say we are children of God but the real fact is we become true children of God only after we are Spiritually born again.
Many unbelievers and also religious people try their best to reserve a place in heaven while living here on earth. Our God the Father in heaven has made this very easy for us. None of us need to work for it, just simply believe in Jesus Christ who was sent by God. It is that easy. Salvation is freely available as God's gift for all.
The parable of the Prodigal son by Jesus is by far the most important and significant one . It talks of the free salvation package that God has for us.
Luke 15:22-24 But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and was found.’ So they began to celebrate.
In those days one basic way to distinguish a slave is by noticing who is wearing a sandal in the house. Usually a slave never wears sandals and they are mostly categorized into four different groups of which the last and fourth category is only eligible to remove sandals of others.
Here in this parable the new sandal symbolises the restoration of his son-ship. He left home and thought he also lost the position or liabilities of a son but the father reminds him nothing is lost. Instead the father creates an awareness in him by giving him a robe and a new sandal to show that the son-ship is restored so easily.
Similarly many people live with same inferiority complex that they are slaves and not eligible to anything from the Father in Heaven because of their shortcomings and weakness which is a great mistake. We all should live with a clear conscience that we are sons and daughters of God. Whatever may happen we will never lose our son-ship.
There are two mentalities that many people possess . The son mentality and slave mentality. The son mentality is the feeling and believing we are sons or daughters of God. The slave mentality is the one in which we feel we have a lot of shortcomings and so do not deserve the son-ship due And so we forfeit God's freely available gifts.
The new sandal the son received shows the new way of life or a new lifestyle we all should adopt when we accept salvation and are saved.
