God Will Give You A Future
Among the twelve disciples, John often addressed himself as ‘the disciple whom Jesus loved’. Neither did Jesus show favouritism nor does it mean that Jesus didn't love the other disciples. We don’t see this phrase in any other gospel except that of John; and therefore it’s just a reflection of John’s personal love relationship with Jesus. Though Jesus poured out His love to all His disciples, it was John who received and tasted His love and he even addressed himself as ‘the disciple whom Jesus loved’.
Of all the books in the Bible, it’s only in the epistle of John that we read, ‘God is love’ (1 John 4:8, 1 John 4:16). This is because John experienced and enjoyed Jesus’ love on a personal level. Most of the parents love all their children equally even though they deal and express their love differently towards their son and daughter. God is love and yet many believers raise a question in the midst of their disparate circumstances - ‘If God loves me, why am I in this state?’. The truth is that there are many factors and spiritual principles for the way things are in our lives, which we may not be able to comprehend with our human brain. But Paul and Silas are a great example for us to praise and worship God in the midst of any circumstance - they were beaten up, they were bruised, they were broken, and they were put in a dungeon in chains.
Philippians 3:4-7
though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:26
I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.
Despite great wisdom and discernment from God, some things are meant to happen and we may have to go through some trials in life. It is inevitable! Judas betraying Jesus was meant to happen.
Acts 14:22
strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.
This is not to glorify suffering, but it surely is an integral part of Christian life. Some sufferings may be for the sake of Christ, while some may be due to our mismanagement, and some could be due to deception/abuse. While all of that happens in this world and we may not understand everything; being a child of God, you and I must be able to move forward in life knowing that our Abba will turn out everything for good. Hallelujah! This is faith!!
Romans 1:17
… “The righteous will live by faith.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we live by faith, not by sight.
Matthew 14:25-31
Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Peter’s faith fell but Jesus lifted him up. Faith is the capital for a believer! Our faith graph may display ups and downs; still we have a God who will reach out to us and deliver us.
Psalm 34:19
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all
2 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
Numbers 23:19
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil?
The devil is the ‘father of lies’ but our father is the “Father of Truth’.
Our God will never forsake us. Each one is destined to reach the mountain top with Jesus and raise a banner of victory.
This God is my God! This God is our God! How privileged are we to call Him, Abba Father!!
You may know the story of Ruth : Elimelech and Naomi moved out from Bethlehem (the house of bread) due to famine and lived in Moab with their two sons. Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband. When Naomi heard in Moab that the Lord had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there. With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah. Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me. May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.”
At this they wept aloud and refused to leave Naomi and return to their homes. But Naomi further insisted them to return and then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her. Ruth had seen her mother in law’s life. She was a prayerful woman who loved them and she too wanted to serve her God.
Ruth 1:16-18
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
That one stern decision of Ruth changed her life forever. After reaching Bethlehem, Ruth worked in a field that belonged to Boaz. Boaz later married Ruth - she who worked in the field became the wife of him who owned the field. They had a son, whom they named Obed. And they became a part of Jesus’s lineage - Boaz was the great-grandfather of David.
John 7:42 (NLT)
For the Scriptures clearly state that the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David, in Bethlehem, the village where King David was born.”
Hebrews 4:13
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
God will orchestrate everything in your life and lead you to a good future just as we saw in the life of Ruth. Cling unto Him and stand firm in your faith. We serve an amazing God!
