Keys to Open Heaven 4: Fervent Prayers

We are studying the keys to open heaven. We saw that it was when Jesus was baptised, the gates of heaven were opened in a way that no one could imagine.

There are three worlds- the earth, the netherworld, and the heavenly world. There is a second or intermediate heaven in between the earth and the third heaven. This is where all the demons expelled from heaven are found.

In Ephesians 6.12, Paul writes about four categories of evil powers ‘12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul says that he has seen the heavenly realm so much more that he cannot write to us about. These demons block prayers from reaching heaven and back. Jacob was another example of a person who had an open heaven experience. 

The fourth key to open heaven is Fervent prayer. This is not normal prayer. 

Luke 3:21  “When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened.”

Heaven opened when Jesus prayed. Everything Jesus does is perfect as He is perfect. We all have fallen short of the glory of God, we are imperfect as we live in a fallen world. Jesus’ prayer is perfect. When Jesus prayed, heaven opened before Him. True spiritual and fervent prayer guided by God can open heaven upon us too! It was not a casual, ritualistic, religious prayer. Prayer is not an advice or suggestion; it is a commandment and it is a breathing. It unfolds mysteries.

“Whenever heaven is open, there is someone praying on earth!”
Jacob was also someone who prayed strongly and he experienced and saw heaven open and a ladder where the angels were going up and down.  Here, we are not talking about normal, religious, or token prayers. We are talking about fervent, true, extraordinary  prayers!

There was a young man of 18 years old living a sinful life who had a praying mother, who always prayed for her son’s  salvation. One day, she left home to travel but in her heart, she felt troubled about her son. She felt a strong urge to pray for him. She went into a room and started praying for him strongly. She spent hours praying. After some time, she felt in her spirit that her son had been saved!

At this same time, the son who was at home, felt an urge to go into his father’s library. He took a small tract lying there and read it. The message on that paper impacted him strongly. In that moment, he kneeled down and gave his life to Jesus.
 
When the mother came back home after a few days, the son ran to him and said “Mom, I’ve given my life to Jesus!” The mother had no surprise and she said, “I knew this ten days ago, I felt it in my spirit while praying! The Holy Spirit gave me a confirmation”

A mother’s prayer is strong! It will catapult their children and give shape to their life. The young man who was saved was called Hudson Taylor who became a missionary to China for forty years. His son, Howard Taylor, said that the sun didn’t set in China without his father, Hudson praying on his knees. Because he was born again through strong prayer, he went forward strongly. He was used to bring many people to Christ in China. He established the “China Inland Mission”. 

In another story, a 20-year-old man took over a church. After he preached for the first time, an elderly person came to him and said, “While you don’t have the age and maturity to lead a church, I will help you. I will pray.”

Every time this man went up to preach, this old man and a few others would pray for him.  The group of people praying grew and grew to 200 people! (Even Paul, the Apostle, asked people to pray for him!)

This praying group gave him huge strength and confidence. He knew that he just had to stand and the Holy Spirit would do the rest! In a few years, 1000 people were saved! There was open heaven and revival in that church. Prayer is powerful.

Acts 2:1-4 shows us the experience of open heaven on the day of Pentecost.
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

10 days of fervent prayers went behind the day of Pentecost! The wind that hit them was not an ordinary wind. It was a tornado from heaven.

Keep on praying fervently, unceasingly, never give up in prayer. Pray until something happens (PUSH)!

Your religious prayers will get you nowhere. You need to pray fervently and in truth! The demonic force in the second heaven tries to block the prayers of the saints but our fervent prayers can penetrate it and reach heaven.
