Who Are Your Friends?
God created us humans with free-will and the choices we make in our lives have great significance. Adam, the first man itself failed in making the right choice. The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God had only prohibited them to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and yet, they became prey to the serpent's deception.
Genesis 3:4-5
“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
By eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam chose to fulfil the desire of living a life independent of God, his Creator. Instead, had they eaten from the tree of life, they would have embraced eternity. However, after the fall of man, God placed cherubim and a flaming sword to guard the way to the tree of life so that they wouldn’t eat from it in the fallen state and spend the whole eternity separated from God.
Even today, in the New Testament era, don’t we complain and grumble in various life situations? Although we confess the Lord as our God, we chase money due to the worries of life and the deceitfulness of wealth. Love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
Proverbs 13:20
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Be careful to make the right choices in life! Be choosy about your friends. Requoting the famous quote, ‘Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.’ Be vigilant of the information you feed on. Shape up a glorious future by associating with prayerful, anointed, virtuous and holy people of God. The Bible is a miracle book that has the power to change our perspective and transform our lives.
Proverbs 18:21
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
1 Peter 3:10
For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.
God says blessings and curses, life and death, good and evil is all in front of you. The choices you made in the yesterdays is what brought you to where you are today, but today if you’d reroute your thoughts and choose blessings, life and good as per God’s will, you’ll surely have a good tomorrow. Why don't we choose to journey through the proven path recorded in the Bible of those who were blessed by obeying the Word?
If you have a good tongue, you have a good future. Life and death lies in your own tongue, and not in God’s hands. This is why your choices matter!
