How To Move The Mountain Before You?
Faith is the capital for a child of God with which we can access the resources from the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 21:21-22
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
When we pray for certain things in faith, there’s a sudden impact in the root system of that matter, but it may take time to see visible results. Therefore, do not quit having faith in God and making faith confessions/declarations.
Jesus taught His disciples a faith lesson by demonstrating the same over the fig tree. It’s not just Jesus who can, but He has given us all the authority to uproot things from our lives that are deceptive, that aren’t productive or that aren’t bearing good results. Speak out your miracle! Create your world with your words. Your words are powerful.
Just like Apostle Paul said, this is a fight of faith. ‘Moving a mountain’ was a metaphor in Jewish literature which meant ‘to do something that is impossible’. God has beautifully created this universe, and any change brought about by humans would affect the ecosystem and so, Jesus didn’t literally speak about moving mountains.
1 Corinthians 13:2
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
Though the chapter deals with love, from this context I’d like to highlight ‘have a faith that can move mountains’. By faith, you can move mountains. From my own experience, I can assure you that speaking by faith to the mountain-like situation that’s before you does yield results and as you persist in faith and by grace, the mountain that you see today will be nowhere to be seen within a period of time. As a child of God, you are permitted to speak to your mountain and not to speak about your mountain.
Don’t speak about the mountain to God,
Speak to the mountain about your big God.
David was chosen to be the second king of Israel. Due to King Saul’s (the first king of Israel) flaws and disobedience, the Philistines gathered their forces for war against the Israelites. A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp and for forty days the Philistine came forward every morning and evening and took his stand. He would stand and shout to the ranks of Israel, ‘Choose a man and have him come down to me. If he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us.’ On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified. One day David was sent by his father Jesse to meet his elder brothers who had followed Saul to the war and as he was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped out from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it.
Being filled with the Spirit and in faith, David convinced Saul that he’d be able to overcome the Philistine. Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armour on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine. David didn’t cry out to God standing in the battle field, instead he spoke to the giant who stood before him.
1 Samuel 17:45-47
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
This is what we too are to do. Speak to your problems to be uprooted from your life - be it sickness, poverty, or any other challenging situation. If you speak, you surely will see the result!
