How To Develop Radical Faith? Part - 2
Faith pleases God. There is a huge difference between believers and unbelievers. The difference? Faith.
Many Bible characters had radical faith. With God by their side, they were able to do the unimaginable. They stood firm in their faith and honoured God.
Live according to the Word. Jesus himself said that 'man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God'.
Faith comes through hearing the Word of God. Be mindful of what you hear.
The Word should be fed to your mind daily. But again, this should not be done religiously instead you need to have the hunger to meditate on the Word.
3. Stay in hope
When you constantly pray for something without knowing when it will be answered - that is faith. We need to have hope and visualise it happening. God will answer your prayer.
Many people often give up after praying for a while without seeing a result. That is what makes a child of God different - you have hope in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 13:13
‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.’
Romans 5:5
‘And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.’
When you hope for something good according to God’s will, it is sure to happen.
In the book of Luke chapter 17 we read the passage about ten men with leprosy. Jesus came across these men on His way to Jerusalem.
Luke 17:11-19
‘Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
All ten of them cried out to Jesus. And Jesus asked them to show themselves to the priests as he had healed them all. Lepers were not welcome anywhere, not even at the Temple.
All ten of them had one hope - Jesus could heal them. They knew that Jesus could change their circumstance. However, one of them when he saw he was healed of leprosy, just as Jesus said, returned to Jesus with gratitude.
When God heals or blesses you do not go away from here. Remain faithful to God. We need to fill ourselves with the Word and stay in the faith.
4. Act on the Word
Jesus asked the men with leprosy to show themselves to the priests. Their healing came while they were on their way to the priests. Miracles can be instantaneous or delayed. But nevertheless, if God has given you his Word, he will do it.
James 1:22
‘Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.’
5. Pray in the Spirit
Pray as the Spirit leads you. Pray in the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Jude 1:20
‘But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,’
And once we have prayed in faith and have hope, we need to start thanking and praising God in advance for the things he’s going to do in our lives - this makes an uncommon faith to rise in us.
Philippians 4:6
‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’
Summary
Faith and hope goes hand in hand. Every prayer that we pray should be in faith with the hope that God will do the best in his appointed time for us. And when we start doing that, an uncommon faith deeply rooted in the Lord begins to grow in us.
