Satan Is A Taker, God Is A Giver
The Bible tells us that we live in God and move in Him. The world is in Him and not the other way.
Acts 17:28
For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
When we know that we are in Christ (Colossians 1.27) and He is able to keep us from falling.
Jude 1:24-25
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you unblemished in His glorious presence, with great joy— to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord before all time, and now, and for all eternity.
God’s presence, power and Spirit will keep you from stumbling as Christ is in us and above all, we are in Christ!
Throughout the Bible, we see that Satan is a taker whereas God is a giver.
Colossians 1:16
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
As we acknowledge that God is the source of all we experience today, the big and the small; we’ll spontaneously offer our worship and thanksgiving unto our Abba Father!
Children do not know to give, they only know to receive.
In the infant phase of our spiritual life, we may be in the ‘give me’ prayer mode; but there comes a point where we realise that God is the supplier of all that we enjoy and there’s a sudden shift in our perspective; and then we will start giving God honour, thanksgiving etc. As a being, we are indebted to God. All creation is indebted to worship God.
Job 1:8-15
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. One day when Job’s sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, and the Sabeans attacked and made off with them. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”
This is a direct conversation between God and Satan. Satan challenged God and therefore God permitted him to inflict Job, but not to take his life. If you've endured loss/ destruction in your life, know that it is Satan behind the scene and never God.
Job 2:6-7
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.
Job was a blameless and upright person who lived happily and in peace, enjoying God's blessings in his life. But then, things swiftly turned around and he was now facing troubles in different areas of his life.
We've read in the Old Testament about other instances where God punished and took away things from people’s lives due to their wickedness; but in Genesis 3 it was Satan who deceived Eve in the garden of Eden and caused her to fall into sin and took away her peace, fellowship with God and glory. Such was the outcome of Satan’s intervention into the first family and sadly that’s the case even today in many families.
Job 2:9
His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!”
Job’s own life partner abandoned him at the time he most needed her support. Satan induced such thoughts in her mind.
Job 42:10-13
After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the Lord had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring. The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. And he also had seven sons and three daughters.
The devil is a taker, but God is a giver. He can increase anything, multiply anything and can bless you in an exponential way. God can restore anything back to you in double measure. I’d explained it earlier - usually the eldest son or the one from whom something is stolen gets double portion.
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Satan is a robber who steals one’s joy, peace, health, relationships, etc. whereas God gives you more and more and prospers you in every way. If you lose something, you can claim it doubled in measure!
