Generational Curses
Proverbs 26:2 “Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.”
A curse comes to a person through someone or from something that you have done. A curse comes upon you, pursues you or follows you and finally overtakes you. If a curse isn’t dealt with, it can destroy us. We need to find it out and deal with it.
Jesus destroyed all the curses on the cross. Just as it is only when we accept Jesus’ salvation do we receive all that comes with it, we need to claim the healing, deliverance from curses etc into our life. The Bible tells us to continue to work out our salvation; in this way we have to claim and apply what Jesus has done for us. Many believers do not know about it and struggle in their lives.
The enemy uses certain terms and words from our past generations to attack us and discourage us. The words spoken by us can affect our generations and bring curse upon them. So we need to be so careful about what we say.
Proverbs 39:1
“I said, "I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my presence."”
Satan has access in this world and he uses the words we speak against us.
We have to watch our words against others.
Psalm 141:3
“Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.”
We must stop saying unnecessary words. Satan is a legalist. We ourselves can speak and bring curses upon ourselves. These are self imposed word curses. When we are angry, we must wilfully bless instead of curse others. Generational curses get activated in our lives when we speak it into our lives.
We can extend our life and live a healthy life by the words we use. The key to a healthy longevity are seen in the verses given below.
1 Peter 3:9-10
“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.”
The quality of our life can depend on our words. Our tongue should speak only of blessings, healing, prosperity etc. that we experience it and live it.
Psalm 103:5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
We have a rejuvenated and quality life when we speak it into ourselves. We must live a God standard life and not a sub standard life like how the world lives. Even if our current situation doesn’t look good to us, we must focus on what God has spoken over our life and live in a heavenly standard.
