Overcome The Passions Of The Flesh
The Bible tells us how to live a practical Christian life. From time to time, we need to go back to the basics. There should be a course correction in the way we lead our lives at present. The Word of God is a correction force in our lives. Nobody can change the standards and principles of God.
Romans 7.5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.
We have been discussing the various aspects of “flesh” according to the Bible. A person who practises sin in his flesh is unrepentant and has strayed away from God. But a person who struggles with sin and fights it can come back to God in repentance. A person loses salvation when a person deliberately refuses it. God never desires that we lose it.
When we yield to the flesh, you are deceived, defeated and then die spiritually.
There are four steps that happen when we live yielded to the flesh:
1. Disobedience
2. Deception
3. Defeat
4. Death
Galatians 5.24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Those who are in Christ are the ones who are saved. We must know that the flesh has its own lusts, passions and desires which are against the Holy Spirit and God.
1 John 2.15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
The saved are not allowed to love the systems of the world as it is ruled/ governed by the devil. A person who loves the world is a slave to satan. Wrong friendships etc can take us away from God. Our mortal bodies which are not redeemed have lusts.
Our eyes/ eye gates are the greatest camera that can capture all the visuals of the world. Our eyes have a lust to see what we are not supposed to see: there is a driving force inside each one to see dirty things like pornography that are provided by the entertainment industry and social media. A person who sees pornography at least once through websites becomes addicted to it for life.
All these three thighs do not come from the father. It is part of the world system.
Eve fell for these three lusts in the Garden of Eden. But where Eve fell, Jesus won victory over these temptations after he fasted for forty days.
Romans 7.25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
The unsaved are slaves to their flesh. We come out of it when we are saved.
