Why Is Jesus Called The Second Man?

In the past few days, we’ve been comparing Adam- the first Adam or the first man or the carnal man, and Jesus- the last Adam, the second man, or the heavenly man. There are two two human races. 

Why is Jesus called the second man? 
Jesus died as the last man or last Adam of the first Adamic race. His life began in a manger in Bethlehem, He took up all the sins that came through the first Adam and was crucified to be buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea. With this the first Adamic race ended. Now, the second man begins!
On the third day of being buried, Jesus resurrected and this is when we start to call Him the second man as it is a new version of humanity. He was the progenitor of a new race of man. This new life begins at resurrection. He rectified the problems of the first Adamic race and there began a new one. Have we updated to this new software?

When we live life knowing this truth, we start to understand who we are and begin living boldly and with a new life. The second Man Christ, is the head of this new race. He is the author and the finisher of this salvation; the Captain of Salvation. 

All the curses, sickness, and negative things that we inherited from the first Adam, we are rid of as we become one with Jesus and the second man!

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

This cross is the cross of Jesus. It was the sublime and supreme sacrifice that Jesus did for each of us. It is the power of God which translates us from the first Adam to the second man Christ, making us a new creation- children of God, a royal priesthood!

But most of us live our normal lives not realising this truth. Some apostles like Paul received a revelation about this. 

1 Corinthians 2:2 “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”

1 Corinthians 11:23 “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

When the Passover happened, Paul was persecuting the Christians. He was nowhere near Jesus! But he received this revelation later on directly from the Holy Spirit and he writes about this here. He realised that through the first Adam, we received the nature of sin and its consequences, but when we accept Christ, we are also resurrected with Him into a new creation! Because He lives forever, so do we. We have been translated from the first Adam to the last Adam and to the second man to an eternal life. Our spirit never dies. We have received everlasting life from the eternal Saviour.
