Fact, Faith, Feeling
We are starting a new series on “Practical Christian life” today.
Proverbs 14.12 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.
This is the mistake that many in this world encounter.
In John 14.6, Jesus says ““I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
There is a difference between ‘a way’ and ‘the way’. Many choose a way that seems to be very good but it ends fatally.
Those who read and believe the Bible may not necessarily apply it in their life. It is only a theory to be believed for such people. We must be able to live a practical Christian life.
There are three concepts that we must understand to live a practical Christian life: Fact, Faith, Feeling.
Fact is something that remains constant. For example; in Hebrews 13.8, it is written, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
God is a fact, a truth, He never changes.
Matthew 24.35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
It is a fact that the Word of God will never pass away.
2 Corinthians 1.20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
It is a fact that the promises of God will never change.
In conclusion, Fact will never change.
Faith is how we respond when we hear the facts. When we hear the facts about God, should we or should we not believe in Him, worship Him, serve Him ?
Hebrews 11.1 gives us a biblical definition of “Faith”: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Our faith must be built on “Truth” although it is possible to build it on various other things.
Feelings (emotions)is the experience we have when we have faith in the facts. Feelings must be connected to Fact and Faith. It can be likened to an engine which is “Fact” with two bogies connected to it from behind which are Faith and Feelings.
Feelings are unsteady and keep on changing moment to moment from joy to anger to sadness etc. If we live a life based on this changing ‘feelings’, it is dangerous.
Our faith level also can change. Normally, the Faith level of a Christian is on a high on Sunday and then it fluctuates.
The only thing that remains the same is “Fact”. For example, although a blind person cannot see the sun, it doesn’t change the fact that the sun is present. So whether we believe or not, feel it or not; there is no change in a “Fact”. Though we do not see or feel God, it doesn’t nullify the fact that God is always present.
The World lives based on their feelings .I.e based on their five senses, sensory knowledge. Every industry on earth tries to influence people based on their feelings.

We must live a life based on fact and faith so that we will not choose the wrong path. The facts do not change even when seasons or fashions change. Whatever discovery that man has or will make, God’s facts will never change.
Whether we feel God’s presence in a prayer meeting or not, He is always there because he has promised us in Matthew 28.20 And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus is the same always. There is no change in Him even though we do not feel His presence sometimes.
A marriage based on feelings will fall because feelings fluctuate, instead a marriage must be founded on a love covenant with God. A marriage will go through storms and problems, so feelings based marriage fails.
We must base our life on facts of the Word which will never change. Our faith and feelings must be based on this Fact. Many live a carnal life in this world .i.e. a life depended on their five senses. God does not live in the three dimensional sensory world. He lives in a four dimensional supernatural realm.
John 4.24 says ‘God is Spirit’. So many intellectuals, philosophers etc who try to find God with their sensory knowledge fail to find Him and conclude that there is no God. But Fact is fact and no one can change that. We need to get the sequence of Fact — Faith—- Feelings right in our life.
