Matchless Holiness
Leviticus 11:44 “I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground.”
God declares his own nature; He is holy. He also tells us to be holy as He is holy.
1 Samuel 2:2 “There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”
God has a unique holiness, one that is unmatched. It is an incomparable and unapproachable holiness.
Revelation 15:4 “Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
This is the song of Moses and the lamb. There is only one God and He is the only one who is holy.
When Moses and Miriam crossed the Red Sea, wrote a song unto the Lord;
Exodus 15:11 “Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you—
majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?”
Psalm 29:2 “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness.”
How does God’s holiness manifest?
God wants us to make an effort to live in peace. It might not always be successful, but we must try. Without holiness no one will see the Lord.
1 Timothy 6:16 the only one having immortality, the one dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no person has seen or is able to see, to him be honor and might forever, Amen.
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
These two verses may seem contradictory but they really say the same thing. We cannot see God with our natural eyes. One cannot see God without holiness. When we accept Jesus, he covers us with his righteousness. This is imputed holiness. However, practical holiness is a daily practice of being made holy by cooperating with the Holy Spirit. Without holiness, no one will see the Lord. We need to prepare ourselves to enter that holiness in order to see God.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness.
The world goes from sin to more sin. But God has called us to be holy and blameless amongst this generation. The Spirit of God in us is Holy. One of His responsibilities is to make us holy. He is in us not because we are holy, but to make us holy. So we need to yield to the Holy Spirit.

How does God’s holiness manifest?
- Through his character and nature- Psalm 22.3 “Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.” God is constant in His holiness; He does not change. The more we know Him, the more we see the depth of His holiness. In Isaiah 6 and in Revelation 4, two different people in different centuries see the same vision of the angels worshipping the holiness of God in Heaven. Their worship was based on the revelations they were receiving about who God was.
- Through his name- Isaiah 57:15: “For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit”. He has commanded us not to misuse His name or take it in vain, because His name is holy! This is one of the commandments of God written by God Himself and given to Moses. Demons fear this name. The Holy God is holy.
- Through his works- Psalm 98:1: Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvellous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. God’s actions are holy. He cannot do anything unholy. Healing, anointing, revival etc are all God’s holy works.
- Through his kingdom- Matthew 13:41 “The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.” He weeds out all evil from his kingdom, it is completely holy! There is no evil talk or actions. No kingdom on earth is holy. The New Jerusalem will be a holy kingdom
- Through his throne- Psalm 47:8: “God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.”
- Through his ways- Psalm 77:13: “Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God?” His ways are holy!
