The Rising Sun From Heaven
Yesterday, we learnt from the life of Zechariah the priest. He was a prayerful man who had given his life for ministry and he had a prayerful and righteous family. Though they were a childless couple, they stood firm for God with a devotional heart.
It was on a regular day at church, they received a release from the Lord! This is a lesson for us as well. We should be regularly participating in our local church because we can not predict God’s timing. God is a faithful God, and those who have hope in Him should be bold and courageous. God will never let you walk with your head down in shame.
We have seen the two songs in the first chapter of Luke from Mary and Zechariah. Songs come out from us when we are emotional and when our hearts are touched. If it is in our mind, then we will only speak it out. If it is filled with feelings in our heart, then it will come out in songs.
Zephaniah 3:20
At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home. I will give you honour and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes,” says the Lord.
In this passage, we see how God remembers us, He thinks about us and He sings about us!
Heaven is full of music! When God made the most angelic and beautiful choir leader, Lucifer (now known as Satan), it was said that music used to come out even from his wings.
Psalm 148:8-14 reads;
(8) lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, (9) you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, (10) wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, (11) kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, (12) young men and women, old men and children. (13) Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendour is above the earth and the heavens. (14) And he has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the Lord.
It is not only men who can sing praises. Every one of God’s creations praise Him! Everything has a rhythm; the birds, the wind, the leaves and so on. And all these songs are coming from heaven.
WHEN GOD WORKS IN YOUR LIFE, YOU WILL HAVE A SONG!
In the book of Luke, we see the connection between the song of Mary to that of Hannah. Zechariah sang a prophetic song after the birth of his son, John. When the work of God was revealed in his life he sang a prophetic song. He emphasised on 7 major points in his song which we shall take a look at:
God does not look at our age, if it is His promise and His will, then it will surely happen! For Zechariah it was having a child in his old age when it was hard and risky to conceive. God stands true to His promises, He will protect us from any diseases and complications!
The name given to Zechariah’s son - John - was not common in his family but this was chosen because it means “Jehovah is gracious”. It was because of the mercy of God that he even has the possibility of having a son so it is God’s grace that is born there.
Reading Luke, we see God’s special purpose taking place with the birth of two babies in a span of 6 months. One, who is the saviour and the other, who is the preparer of the way, the forerunner of our Lord. John was called to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of sins.
Luke 1:78-79 reads;
(78) because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven (79) to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
It is through God’s continuous mercies that we all still see changes in our lives!

- He has come to his people and redeemed them. God is our redeemer and He wants to redeem us from all the pitfalls and the losses in our lives.
- He has raised up a horn of salvation in the house of his servant David. Our God is our Saviour! He saves us and gives us salvation.
- This had been said through the prophets long ago! This means all the promises and prophecies of God dating back years will be fulfilled in your lives.
- Salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us.
- This is to show mercies to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant.
- This will enable us to serve him without fear.
- This will enable us to serve him in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
God does not look at our age, if it is His promise and His will, then it will surely happen! For Zechariah it was having a child in his old age when it was hard and risky to conceive. God stands true to His promises, He will protect us from any diseases and complications!
