Your Life Will Be Bright Again
Matthew 12:18
“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
The above verse is quoted from Isaiah 42 and ‘my servant’ refers to Jesus who ministered as a servant on Earth and taught servant leadership to the whole world.
The four gospels speak about Jesus from four different angles and the gospel of Mark portrays the servanthood of Jesus. We see 4 creatures in the book of Ezekiel and Revelation - Lion, Ox, Man and Eagle, of which the Ox depicts the servant aspect of Jesus.
Isaiah 11:2
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD.
Luke 4:18
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” (Isaiah 61.1)
Jesus was born as a king although he did not put on a kingly attire and hold the scepter in his hand. Jesus has the authority to rule all nations with an iron scepter, because He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and yet He came in the form of a servant.
Matthew 12:19-20
He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory.
Christ will not contentiously rebuke and persecute those that are weak in faith, or love, but rather will strengthen and kindle them using His own meekness and gentleness. A flute once cracked can never produce the original tone, but the Lord can! Even if you have only little life or little good in you or are even totally messed up, He will never destroy you; instead He’ll lead you to greater peace, joy and prosperity than what you’ve experienced before. God can beautifully build up your life!
Mary Magdalene was delivered of seven demons by Jesus and she was the first person to see Jesus after His resurrection, a privilege that the disciples did not get. If God can raise an army from a valley of dry bones, He can build your life from a handful of ashes. Our God is a God of restoration! Jesus lived as a servant on Earth and yet He built broken lives throughout His ministry. He can make you a flame of fire that spreads light unto others’ lives.
Matthew 12:21
In his name the nations will put their hope.
The nations refers to different ethnic groups and human races who will put their hope in the Name of Jesus. Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved. If you want to be saved, call out the Name of Jesus. As a child would cry out Mummy/Daddy when in an unfavourable situation; we are told to call out on the Name of Jesus in the midst of your situations. No matter how bruised or smouldered you are, God is going to build your life to a state where you’ll give out good music and spread brilliant light to those around you. God is faithful and He’ll never let you down.
