What Is Flesh In The Bible Language?

Romans 7.5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.

A person who is not born again or a child of God in his/her past lives in the realm of the flesh. A person living in the flesh before being born again was subject to the Law which is perfect. However, it aroused many sinful passions in all parts of our flesh which led to death. People who don't have true knowledge will perish. It is only when we have true knowledge that we are saved. Unfortunately, even believers don't know the true meaning of the word “flesh”. Normally it is associated with a dead body. 

What is the meaning of the  word ‘Flesh’ in biblical language? 
1 Thessalonians 5.23 states that our body has three parts. “May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

John 4.24 says “God is Spirit” and we too have spirits as we are created in His image.
Secondly, our soul includes our mind, will and emotions. THe body is the visible part. Man is a tripart being. We are spirits having a soul living in a body. 

In the first stage, In Genesis 1.26,27 God created man as a spirit being in his likeness and image.
In the second stage, in Genesis 2.7, Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. In Genesis 2.22, God created a woman from man.

When God created them, their bodies were pure and holy without any sin. After Eve was deceived by Satan and both of them sinned, they lost God’s nature in part and Satan's nature entered them. Man became a mixture of human nature, divine nature and Satan’s nature.
 
God did create Satan. Satan was initially Lucifer, the bringer of light. He was a powerful Cherub, a worship leader who rebelled against God and desired a throne above God. He got corrupted on his own . This nature was transmitted to Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God. Later it was transferred to their generations through their blood and the entire human clan received the sinful nature. The body of sinful nature is called ‘the flesh’.

This fall deadened their spirits and corrupted their pure body. Their spirits got disconnected/ separated from God. Their mind was damaged which led to depression, emotional and mental instability, double mindedness etc. Their body became corrupted which is the sinful flesh. For the reversal/ redemption, God gave them a promise in Genesis 3 that a seed of woman would crush Satan’s head.

Jesus was born of Mary (conceived by the Holy Spirit) and not of Joseph. Although Mary was born in sin, the mother’s blood doesn't pass into a baby’s body. So Jesus was born sinless and was able to redeem us.
