TITLE:  FAITHFULNESS THAT GOD REWARDS

FOCUS WORD: FAITHFULNESS

FOCUS VERSE: Matthew 25: 21 - Well done, good and faithful servant!  You have been faithful with  few things; I will put you in charge of many things.

DECLARATION: My faithfulness in small things qualifies me for greater responsibility today.

God measures faithfulness before He measures fruitfulness:  In the parable of the talents, the master first appreciates the faithfulness of the servants.  Heaven celebrates faithfulness before it celebrates success.  Man looks at visible results, but God looks at consistent obedience.

1 Corinthians 4: 2 - Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
Luke 12: 42 - And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?
Psalms 101: 6 - I will look with favour on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me: he who walks in the way that is blameless shall minister to me.

God rewards stewardship before He rewards achievement.  

Small assignments prepare us for greater responsibilities:  God’s Kingdom grows through stewardship and management.  David was given sheep to nurture and his faithfulness promoted him to a position to look after God’s people.  Joseph was given charge of a prison before he could govern Egypt.  Philip served at tables before he was entrusted with conducting a crusade.  

Zechariah 4: 10 - For whoever has despised the day of small things shall rejoice, and shall see the plum line in the hand of Zerubbabel.
Proverbs 28: 20 - A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

You may be appointed to a very small position in your job, but your faithfulness will bring in appreciation and promotion and step by step you will climb up the ladder to great heights.  In your family life if you are faithful in your duties and responsibilities, God will enlarge you.  

Faithfulness means remaining constant even when no one notices: Anyone can be faithful when there is applause.  True faithfulness continues when recognition is absent, no accolades are received, when progress is slow.  Faithfulness is choosing obedience without demanding immediate results.  

Hebrews 10: 35 - Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.

Faithfulness is sustained by conviction not compliments.

The greatest reward is the Master’s commendation:  Well done, good and faithful servant - there is no greater reward than this - the words spoken from the mouth of Almighty God.  Do everything with a good attitude to please the Lord Jesus, because one day we will have to be in front of Jesus to settle accounts.  The final evaluation is going to take place before the throne of God.  Will we be appreciated at that time?  Live for the smile of the Master.  

2 Timothy 4: 7 and 8 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness.
Colossians 3: 23 and 24 - Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.

Take a strong decision today - I will be faithful in everything I do, in all areas of my life.  Be faithful in your family, be faithful in prayer, be faithful at your workplace, be faithful in your ministry, be faithful in little things.  Do not seek big platforms, instead seek faithfulness in the little things.  May the good Lord give us the grace to finish the race in a fitting manner that we may be called good and faithful.

The Power Of Diligence

The focus word for today is ‘Diligence’.

The focus verse for today is Proverbs 22:29 says, ‘Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.’

The declaration for today is ‘I work with diligence and care today; excellence brings me before divine opportunities.’

Diligence Is Faithfulness In The Ordinary

Proverbs is called the book of wisdom. The Song of Solomon is the book of love. I have often seen mothers read Proverbs to their children everyday, as Proverbs comprises 31 chapters. However, Proverbs does not begin with miracles and promotions. It speaks about being skilled in your work. This is the first focal point in Proverbs. Whatever you do, you must strive to be the best in it which leads to an increase or a promotion in that area.

Before God enters greater opportunities, he watches how we handle today’s responsibilities. David was caring for sheep before he ruled a nation. While he tended to the sheep, he wouldn’t let even one be lost or attacked. He protected his flock with diligence and care. This is what impressed God about David. God knew that David would care for his people. This was the basis on which God appointed David as the ruler over the people of Israel. Elishah was faithfully plowing before he was appointed as a prophet. It is because he was faithful in the small, that God raised him to higher responsibilities for his kingdom.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, ‘Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.’

Matthew 25:23 says, ‘“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Promotion often wears the clothes of daily faithfulness. Daily faithfulness is the key here. When you look back at the victory of an Olympic gold medalist, you realise that there are umpteen and countless number of faithful and diligent days behind that victory.

Diligence Redeems Time

Lazy people wait for ideal conditions to start something. I have met several people who wait for the ‘right time’. This could be the right economic market, the right investors, the right idea, the right capital. Without actively chasing them, they ‘wait’. They wait and wait and waste away their time. However, if they had used this waiting period to start a small business or something on the side, this would have added to their learning and experience.

Diligent people make wise use of the opportunities they have. Every day that God gives us is a seed. Once the day is spent, it cannot be recovered.

Ephesians 5:15-16 says, ‘15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.’
Every day that God gives us must be used wisely and fruitfully. Every day is a gift from God. They are a gift to share the word, pray, read the word and win souls for his kingdom. Once you miss the opportunity, once you miss out on spending your day wisely, you will never get it back.

Psalm 90:12 says, ‘Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom’

Proverbs 10:4 says, ‘Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.’

Diligence understands that today’s obedience brings tomorrow’s harvest. Great achievements are built from faithful moments.

Diligence Attracts Divine Opportunities

Solomon says, a diligent person will serve before kings. Kings look for people who solve problems and not create them. Joseph’s diligence brought him in front of the Pharaoh. He was faithful in the little that was entrusted to him that God blessed him mightily. Daniel’s diligence brought him before the kings. He served before several kings. Nehemiah’s diligence as the cupbearer won the appreciation and trust of the king. This led to the king bestowing upon Nehemiah the provisions and support to rebuild the fallen wall of Jerusalem.

Genesis 41:39-40 says, ‘39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”’

Daniel 6:3 says, ‘Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.’

Proverbs 12:24 says, ‘Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.’

God often opens extraordinary doors through ordinary excellence. Whatever we do today, whatever it may be, we should do it well and diligently. This could be a door that the Lord is opening for you to possess greater opportunities and success.

Diligence Honours God

Our diligence honours God. As believers we can bring glory to God through our jobs. You could be a preacher, a doctor, a teacher, an IT employee, a businessman, anything you do becomes an offering to God. Anything we do, let it be done for the glory of God. Everything we do becomes an offering to God.

Colossians 3:23-24 says, ‘23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.’

1 Corinthians 15:58 says, ‘Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, ‘

Hebrews 6:10 says, ‘God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.’


Excellence is not about gaining applause, it is about giving God our very best. Even if the people around you don’t recognize this, it is important to do things as if you are doing for God. Your attitude should be such that ‘I will give the Lord my best.’ If you continue to be diligent in your work, no matter how big or small or insignificant it may look to you, God will bless you. You may feel like you are not reaping the benefits of your work and you may feel discouraged from time to time, but believe that God sees your good work and he will increase and lift you up at the right time.

LIVING FOR HIS PRESENCE

FOCUS WORD:  GLORY OF GOD

FOCUS VERSE:  Habakkuk 2: 14 - The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters cover the sea.

DECLARATION:  God’s glory shines through me today; His presence is revealed wherever I go.

God’s glory is the manifestation of who He is:  God’s personality, His very being is displayed through His glory.  It is more than brightness, power or heavenly splendour;  it is the revelation of His nature.  When Moses asked to see the glory of God, His nature and character were revealed to him - His goodness, mercy, compassion, faithfulness.  

Exodus 33: 18 and 19 - Moses said, “Please show me Your glory.”  And He said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you My name ‘The Lord’.  And I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”
Exodus 34: 6 - The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “the Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness….
Psalm 19: 1 - The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.

The above verses reveal the visible expression of who He is.  

Humanity was created to reflect the glory of God:  From the beginning mankind was created that the glory of God may be displayed in His image on the earth.  The Triune God discussed among themselves and created man in God’s image and likeness.  But this quality was lost by the sin of Adam, the first man.  Jesus Christ came to the earth in the form of man to regain the lost image for mankind.  The purpose of salvation is not only about getting man to heaven, but restoring God’s glory in human lives.  The world should see the glory of God revealed in His children.

Romans 8: 29 - For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.
2 Corinthians 3: 18 - And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.
Matthew 5: 16 - In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

The glory of God increases through His presence:  In the Old Testament, we read that when the presence of God descended, His glory filled the Temple and no one could go near it.  The more we walk with God the more His character becomes visible in us.  

Psalm 27: 4 - One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.
John 15: 4 and 5 - Abide in Me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless it abides in Me.
Ephesians 3: 10 - So that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

Glory is not achieved through our own efforts, but through abiding in the Living God.  

God’s glory is meant to fill the earth:  This is God’s ultimate purpose - that this whole earth would be privy to the knowledge of His glory.

Isaiah 60: 1 and 2 - Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
Revelation 21: 3 - And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of god is with man.  He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.

The LAMB will be the LAMP to us.  We have no need for any other illumination.  God’s plan is bigger than our personal blessing.  He desires His glory to be evident to all peoples.  Always work towards seeking the glory of God in our lives.

RENEWED ZEAL

FOCUS WORD:  RENEWED ZEAL

FOCUS VERSE:  Romans 12: 11 - Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour serving the Lord.

DECLARATION:  Holy fire rekindles my passion today; I serve God with fresh energy and joy.

Spiritual passion must be maintained:  Always take good care of your spiritual zeal; this could wane over time.  Many believers lose their passion not through rebellion, but through drifting away.  The first love lis lost over time.  The Ephesian church was strong in doctrine, but they had forsaken their first love.

Revelation 2: 4 and 5 - But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.  Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.  If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Hebrews 2: 1 - Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
Song of songs 8: 6 - Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death,............

The greatest danger is not falling away but slowly cooling down.  In the end times, many people will fall away from the faith, even reject Jesus.  Let us take the example of red hot molten lava.  As it cools down over time, it becomes cold black rocks.  Passion for the Lord should be continually nourished to maintain fervour, to keep the fire burning.

Zeal is born from a fresh vision of God:  Zeal is maintained when a person realises that it is worth living for.  In chapter o of the book of Isaiah, the Prophet gets a new vision of God.  He has a special encounter and his whole life is changed; he receives a fresh revelation into the things of God.  His ministry was totally changed.  

Philippians 3: 8 - Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.  for His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.
Psalm 27: 4 - One thing have I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.  

The Apostles are on fire after seeing the resurrected Christ and they were ready to go to the ends of the earth to preach the Gospel.

Zeal thrives when gifts are stirred up:  Unused gifts eventually become dormant.  We need to fan them into flames.  Need to eagerly desire more gifts from the Holy Spirit..  Purposeful service ignites our zeal.

2 Timothy 1: 6 - For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,...........
1 Peter 4: 10 - As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
Ecclesiastes 9: 10 - Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.

Zeal becomes contagious:  Passion has a tendency to spread.  The Apostles on their way to Emmaus encountered the risen Christ and their hearts were burning.  

Acts 18: 25 - He had been instructed in the way of the Lord.  And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
Psalm 69: 9 - For zeal for Your house has consumed me.
Hebrews 10: 24 - And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,......

Do we attend church on Sundays as a matter of tradition?  Or do we attend the servilce with a passion and zeal for the Lord and His ministry?

Recognizing God's Voice Clearly

The focus word for today is ‘Spiritual Discernment’.

Focus verse for today is 1 Corinthians 2:10 says, ‘these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God’

The declaration for today is ‘The Holy Spirit grants me discernment; I see beyond appearances and recognize God’s will.’

Discernment Is Seeing Things As God Sees Them

Spiritual discernment is essentially seeing things through God’s eyes rather than from our understanding and assumptions. Many people see events that take place before, discernment says what happens behind the events. Many people hear words, but discernment understands the Spirit before the words. Derek Prince once said ‘Behind every voice there is a person’.

When Samuel saw Jesse’s sons, he was impressed with all 7 of them. They were well built and handsome and Samuel was impressed at the first sight of them. But God looked deeper. He chose David, the shepherd boy, who was thin, not good-looking in the world's eyes.

1 Samuel 16:7 says, ‘ But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”’

The world looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.

John 7:24 says, ‘Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”’
I have often had conversations with people who judge others based on their attire to church. Believers tend to question how and why the Holy Spirit would reveal to such people. I have also seen well dressed believers who are cold at heart, not open to the anointing of the Spirit and come to church in perfect appearance. They claim holiness and purity. I have seen the former being touched by the Spirit and speaking in tongues and the latter standing as mere spectators to God’s glory. God looks at the heart, not what our appearances are.

Proverbs 3:21 says, ‘My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion;’

Spiritual maturity begins when we stop evaluating life, purely based on what we see with our eyes. It is when we start seeing through God’s eyes that our spiritual maturity begins.

Discernment Comes Through Intimacy With The Holy Spirit

Paul says, the Spirit searches the ‘deep things’ of God. The Holy Spirit is the world’s deepest and biggest search engine. His eyes search for everything in this world. The Holy Spirit scans and surveys everything that happens in this world.

Hebrews 4:13 says, ‘Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.’

Nothing is hidden from God, to him everything lays bare. The Holy Spirit knows God's mind, God’s ways, God’s purposes and more. Therefore discernment is not a skill that we must learn, but a relationship with the Holy Spirit that must cultivate.

John 16:13 says, ‘But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.’

Romans 8:27 says, ‘And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.’

Psalm 25:14 says, ‘The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.’

People who walk closely with God often recognise what others overlook. When you walk closely with God we will start to understand God’s intentions and purposes quickly. The closer we walk with God, the clearer his voice becomes.

Discernment Protects Us From Deception

Not everything that appears spiritual is from God. Not every open door is God’s door. Not every opportunity is a divine assignment. Which is why discernment is essential. Spiritual discernment is compulsory and necessary.

1 John 4:1 says, ‘Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.’

There have been instances when people move churches by the invitation of another. On another person's word, they move churches only to realise that they have been fooled. Sometimes this leads them to abandon their faith and other times they decide to stay away from churches in general and instead listen to the word on YouTube. This results in them not having a church community or a spiritual mentor to commune with. If God has planted you in a church, it’s your responsibility to stay there and grow there.

Hebrews 5:14 says, ‘But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.’

Matthew 24:24 says, ‘For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.’

Not everyone who claims they are from God, are in fact from God. They could appear to perform signs and wonders to deceive us. This is why it is necessary to exercise spiritual discernment at all times. And we gain this spiritual discernment by walking with the Holy Spirit. Whenever you hear anything or see anything, the Holy Spirit inside of us, will always nudge us to help us make the right decisions.

One of Satan’s greatest weapons is not persecution, but deception. For instance, to an untrained eye a fake note will look original, whereas to a trained eye, they will know the difference in one look. The best protection against deception is intimacy with the truth.

Discernment Helps Us Cooperate With God’s Timing

Many believers know God’s promises but struggle with his timing. And the reason why we don’t know his timing or do not find solace in waiting is because we don’t have that close relationship with God. If we walk with the Holy Spirit and have an intimate relationship with him, then he will reveal to us about timings and seasons. Discernment helps us recognise not only what God is doing but when he is doing it or when he will do it.

1 Chronicles 12:32 says, ‘ from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command;’

Ecclesiastes 8:5 says, ‘Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure.’

Isaiah 30:21 says, ‘ Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”’

Wisdom knows what to do, but discernment knows when to do it.

Joy In The Holy Spirit

The focus word for today is ‘Joy In The Holy Spirit’

The focus verse for today is Romans 14:17 says, ‘For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,’

Today’s declaration is ‘Joy overflows in me today. The Holy Spirit fills my heart with strength and celebration’

Joy Is A Kingdom Reality, Not Merely A Human Emotion

Joy in the Lord is not similar to the pleasure that you feel when you eat your favourite food or buy new clothes. What you experience then is a momentary pleasure. Joy is related to spirit, happiness is related to mind and pleasure is related to body. The body craves pleasure, happiness is something we feel in our mind and the spirit craves joy. Happiness is related to happenings.

Paul says joy in the Lord is ‘righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit’. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Joy, which is why we see phrases like ‘oil of gladness’ in the Bible. Joy is not presented as an occasional feeling, it is a characteristic of kingdom life. Happiness depends on happenings and joy depends on God’s presence.

Psalm 16:11 says, ‘You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.’

Joy is connected to our spirit man and that’s continual despite our circumstances.

John 15:11 says, ‘ I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.’

Our God is a joyful God. There is joy in him and through him we feel the joy in us.

1 Peter 1:8 says, ‘Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,’

Galatians 5:22 says, ‘But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,’

In the verse above, joy is mentioned as one of the fruits of the Spirit.

Joy Is Strength For The Journey
Nehemiah did not say joy is a luxury, but the joy of the Lord is our strength. Joy is not a big celebration often, it is not constrained to a situation or related to our physical body and hormones. This joy comes directly from the presence of God. If a believer is depressed, this indicates that they are living out of God’s presence. If you are in the presence of God you will experience righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit. It is the joy of the Lord that gives us the strength to move forward in life. The reason why this is true, is because a joyous believer will be resilient. They will be strong against uncertainties and issues and if they stagger, the joy of the Lord will give them the strength to face challenges. They will immediately bounce back from any and all situations.

The body desires pleasure, the mind craves happiness and the Spirit needs joy. We receive this joy only from the Lord.

Psalm 28:7 says, ‘The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.’

Looking at the story of David and Michal, we see that when Michal despised the way David praised the Lord with unrestrained joy, reproductive fruitfulness was taken away from her. Joy is not the reward after victory, but it's the strength that carries us into the victory.

Joy Thrives Even In Difficult Circumstances

When you look at Paul’s ministry, throughout he suffered great hardships. He was imprisoned, starved, beaten and embraced several insults and ridicules. However through all this he says, ‘rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice’.

Acts 13:52 says, ‘And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.’

Philippians 4:4 says, ‘Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!’

James 1:2 says, ‘Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,’

Christian joy is not the denial of pain, it is the confidence that God remains sovereign in the midst of it. It’s the knowledge that even in your troubles, your redeemer lives and he will bring you out of your troubles. The joy of the Lord is like the water deep inside the surface of the earth. It will never run out no matter how much is used.

Joy Becomes A Witness To Others

A joyful believer reflects the reality of God’s kingdom. No matter what happens they know the kingdom of God awaits them. The early Christians went through an ample number of trials and tribulations, despite that they clinged on to God and the Truth. For they knew that the kingdom of God awaits.

Matthew 5:16 says, ‘In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’

Psalm 126:2 says, ‘Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”

Proverbs 17:22 says, ‘A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.’

ANOINTED SPEECH

WHEN gOD S[EAKS THROUGH YOU

FOCUS WORD:  ANOINTED SPEECH

FOCUS VERSE:  1 Corinthians 2: 4 - My words and my speech were not with persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.

DECLARATION:  The Spirit anoints my words today;what I speak carries life, wisdom and transformation.

The most powerful words are not necessarily the most impressive:  Paul the apostle was a Roman citizen and studied under the scholar Gamaliel.  When he visited Corinth, he told the people there that he did not come with orator skills or flowery language to impress them; he came to preach about the risen Christ.  Words can inform minds, but only the Spirit can transform hearts.  Peter, an unschooled fisherman, was filled with the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost and started to preach the good News.  The people gathered outside began to ridicule the apostles and called them drunk with wine.  But Peter rose and gave the reply - the people were cut to the heart and many were baptised on a single day. This was by anointed words not impressive words.

Luke 24: 32 - They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, while He opened to us the Scriptures?”
1 Thessalonians 1: 5 - Because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.  
Acts 4: 12 - And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

God uses consecrated lips:  Before the Prophet Isaiah could begin his ministry, his lips were touched by a fiery coal by the angel of God.  God cleanses before He commissions.

Psalm 141: 3 - Set a guard, Oh Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!
Ephesians 4: 29 - Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

The Holy Spirit gives the right words at the right time:  Anointed speech is not merely speaking the Truth, but speaking the Truth at the right moment.  Jesus always spoke exactly what the people needed to hear.  

Psalm 25: 11 - For Your name’s sake, Oh Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great.
Isaiah 50: 4 - The Lord has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary.
Luke 21: 15 - For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

God will give us the exact words to be spoken in every situation.  Paul was told he would speak before Kings and authorities and words would be put into his mouth.

Anointed speech carries life:  The word of God carries healing power, gives encouragement, builds one up, gives solutions, brings forth repentance and transformation.  The noted evangelist Charles Spurgeon once said - your message should burn in the hearts of the people and put them on fire, if not put the message in the trash and burn it.

Proverbs 18: 21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
John 6: 63 - It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.
Colossians 4: 6 - Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

FOCUS WORD: SPIRIT-LED LIFE

FOCUS VERSE: Romans 8: 14 - Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God

DECLARATION: The Holy Spirit directs my every step today; I move only where His peace and presence lead.

The Christian life was never meant to be self-directed:  Paul does not describe believers merely as those who believe in God; he describes them as those who are led by the Holy Spirit.  One of the greatest differences between a natural life and a supernatural spiritual life is the leadership of the Holy Spirit in every aspect.  He directs our path in every area of our life.  So, the question in my life is not - do I have specific plans - but that God is planning my life.  

Proverbs 16: 9 - The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Isaiah 30: 21 - And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

The Holy Spirit speaks with a gentle whisper to guide our lives.  If we continuously ignore or reject this direction, He will stop intervening.  

Psalm 32: 8 - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

A surrendered life is a guided life.  Do not always expect a burning bush experience.  The Spirit guides us very gently.

The Holy Spirit leads through an intimate relationship, not just rules and regulations:  The Old Testament was filled with strict rules and laws and the people were to observe them unconditionally.  But, when Jesus came, He cast away these rules and the Laws by observing them and bringing them to completion and fulfillment on the Cross of Calvary.  He gave us a Helper, an Advocate - the precious Holy Spirit, the Paracletus.  This privilege is available only in the New Testament.  The Law which was carved on stone in the time of Moses is to be carved on the flesh of our hearts.  The Holy Spirit not only gives us instructions but He develops communion with us.  

John 10: 27 - My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Ezekiel 36: 27 - And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

The Holy Spirit wants to become an ‘in-built system’ - the goal is not only knowing the will of God, but knowing God Himself.  Closeness produces clarity.  Moses, when he approached the burning bush was asked to remove his sandals and get closer.  With us too, God wants an intimate relationship.

The Holy Spirit leads through peace and conviction:  The Holy Spirit guides through the Scriptures giving us an inner conviction, His wisdom will convict you in deep understanding.  You may be reminded of certain Scripture portions which will give a direction or solution as the answer to your prayers.  Secondly, the Holy Spirit will instill in you a strong conviction regarding a decision you may be seeking help for.  An assurance for your decisions.  Thirdly, you will get wisdom giving clarity to your situation.  In some cases, you need to wait at the feet of Jesus and an inner peace will enter your heart regarding the decision you need to take. Sometimes the Holy Spirit hinders or prepares a block in front of the direction we are about to step into or redirects us to another route.  

Colossians 3: 15 - And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.
Acts 16: 6 and 7 - And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.  And when they had come to Mysai, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.
James 3: 17 - But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

Spirit-led people lead and produce Spirit-filled results:  When the Holy Spirit leads, the outcome of a situation reflects His nature, which are - holiness, wisdom, love, courage and fruitfulness.  

Ephesians 5: 9 - For the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true.
John 15: 5 - I am the vine; you are the branches.  Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is, that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Take a decision today to follow the direction of the Holy Spirit - DIRECTION DETERMINES DESTINATION.  We need to pray that we would enjoy a fruitful Spirit-led life.

GOD WILL MAKE A WAY

FOCUS WORD:  SUPERNATURAL PROVISION

FOCUS VERSE: Philippians 4: 19 - And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.

DECLARATION:  The Spirit supplies every need today; divine provision flows without limitation.  

God’s provision flows from His riches, not our resources:  His provision is from His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  It does not flow from our ancestors, it is not about our wealth or status, savings, etc.  The measure of God’s supply is not according to man’s sufficiency, but His sufficiency.  

Psalm 50: 10 - 12 - For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.  I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine.  If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine.
Haggai 2: 8 - The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the Lord of hosts.
Romans 8: 32 - He did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?

Our limitations do not limit God; He is unlimited.  The size of our bucket does not determine the size of the reservoir.  God’s supply is always greater than our capacity.

God often provides through unexpected channels:  He does not always use predictable methods.  He makes null and void man’s plans.  He made a raven to fetch food for the prophet Elijah.  This is something beyond the natural - it is supernatural.  A raven is known to be a bird that is always on the lookout to snatch food from any place and never to give away food.  God instructed the raven to do something beyond the laws of nature.  This is how God works.  A widow of Zarephath was called to feed Elijah when she was about to prepare her very last meal.  Her obedience brought about a miracle of a never-ending supply of flour and oil.  The exact amount payable towards the Temple tax was found in the mouth of a fish.

1 Kings 17: 6 - And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
2 Kings 4: 1 - 7 - …..Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbours, empty vessels and not too few…………..”
Matthew 17: 27 -

When God is your source, He opens countless resources.

Provision is connected to acts of obedience:  many miracles began with an act of faith.  The debt-ridden widow in the time of prophet Elisha had to borrow vessels from the neighbourhood houses.  Peter had to launch his net into deep waters.  The apostles had to begin distributing the loaves and bread and fish before they could see the miracle.  

Luke 5: 4 - 6 - When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”  And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing!  But at Your word I will let down the nets.”
2 Kings 4: 3 and 4 - “Borrow vessels …………Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels.  And when one is full, set it aside.”
Malachi 3: 10 - Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no mor need.

The principle of giving was taught in the Old Testament times and is relevant to this day.  When you honour God by obeying and giving for His Kingdom, He will honour you.  His provision frequently follows obedience.

God’s greatest provision is not what He gives us, but that He is with us:  It is more than money or material needs.  He gives wisdom for decision-making, strength for trials, peace in the face of anxiety, grace for weakness, direction during uncertainty, etc.  

Psalm 23: 1 - The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Hebrews 13: 5 - Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Man may give you appointments for ten or fifteen minutes but the Creator of the universe always gives you His presence.  He is always with you - He will never leave you nor forsake you.

The Key to God’s Blessing

Focus word: ‘Unity in the Spirit.’
Focus verse: Ephesians 4.3: ‘Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.’
Declaration: I walk in unity and peace; the Spirit joins our hearts for Kingdom power and purpose.
The Holy Spirit brings unity.
Points to ponder:

1.  Unity is a treasure that must be protected.

Paul does not ask us to create a spirit of unity, rather keep the unity of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit creates the unity among the believers through our life in Christ. The Church comprises of people from varied backgrounds and beliefs – a representation of the audience in heaven as described in the Book of Revelation; Father God’s children washed in the blood of the lamb, redeemed by the Saviour, and united by the Holy Spirit in the church of Christ and our responsibility is to protect it.
Psalm 133.1 says, ‘How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!’
A prayer meeting, a fellowship in Christ would be the apt example.
John 17.21 – ‘That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.’
High priest Jesus prayed these words to the Father before He was led to crucifixion.
Colossians 3.14 – ‘And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.’
Love is the glue, the chord that unites everyone together. Unity is easier to destroy than to build. A family, a fellowship can be easily destroyed by just one voice of discontent. That’s why unity has to be protected like a treasure.

2.  Unity requires maturity, not uniformity

Unity is not uniformity of thought rather it is the maturity of thought in each individual. The early church included tax collectors, fishermen, zealots, Jews, Gentiles, rich, poor, educated, uneducated etc. etc. Their strength was not sameness but shared devotion to God.
Romans 12. 4 – 5, “For just as each of us have one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function; so in Christ, we though many, form one body and each member belongs to all the others.”
1 Corinthians 12. 12 – ‘Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.’
Philippians 2.2 – “……. being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.”
Maturity celebrates diversity and have a common person to worship, the one and true God – the Father; the Lord – Our Saviour who redeemed us by His precious blood. Under differently coloured skin, we carry different blood groups but the same colour of blood, the blood of Jesus which supplies life to all. Similarly, in Matthew 13, the Church is compared to a net that catches all kinds of fish.
So how is maturity fostered?
Through acceptance of differences and celebrating them is the quality of maturity nurtured. Through it, unity is maintained in the bonds/chords of peace.

3.  Unity releases Spiritual Power

God often moved powerfully when his people were united. The powerful release at Pentecost changed history, when the 120 assembled in the upper room, united in thought and spirit, (in one accord) prayed together. One accord is actually an orchestra of musical instruments creating a symphony. 120 hearts and minds came together in unison waiting for the promise of God, for the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2.1: ‘……. they were all together in one place.’
Acts 4.32: ‘All the believers were one in heart and mind….’
Matthew. 18.19: ‘…………if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for it will be done for them….’
Division drains strength while unity multiplies impact. The more the horses – the more the power!

4.  Peace is the bond that preserves unity

Unity survives where humility, forgiveness and grace are practiced. Nothing can destroy it. Every relationship can face misunderstanding. Even in our relationship with God, we often misunderstand His ways. Unity is preserved when believers chose reconciliation over offense. An example would be a cloud cast sky that could envelope people and they couldn’t see each other. Similarly, cloudy atmospheres envelope relationships. How to resolve them? Have open talks and reconcile. Problem solved. Otherwise, friends become enemies.
Romans 12.18 ‘….. live at peace with everyone’ for it depends on you.
Colossians 3.13 – ‘forgive as the Lord forgave you.’
Hebrews 12. 14 – ‘Make every effort to live in peace.’
The enemy often attacks relationships because He understands the power of unity in families, churches. So he attempts to scatter seeds of discord in the ‘Koinonia.’ We have to discern these and gain maturity. A crack in a dam needs to be fixed before it crumbles and causes a flood.
Unity of the Spirit needs to be fostered through the bonds of peace.

AUTHORITY IN CHRIST

FOCUS VERSE:  Luke 10: 19 - I have given you authority …..  To overcome all the power of the enemy.

DECLARATION: I walk in divine authority today; nothing shall by any means harm me.

Our authority comes from the victory of Christ Jesus:  Jesus has never told us to work hard or pray earnestly to earn authority but He has taught us - I have given you authority.  Given, not secured, not self-generated, but delegated.  An ambassador does not go about his work on his own authority but that which is delegated from the head of the country he represents.  

Matthew 28: 18 and 19 - And Jesus said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.

Here, we see Jesus crucified on the cross, lying helpless and yet contradictory to this, He taught His disciples - “All authority has been given to Me”.  Meaning, over Pontius Pilate, over Herod, over the High Priest, Governors, Emperor, etc.  

Ephesians 1: 20 and 21 - That He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
Colossians 2: 15 - He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in Him.

Thus we understand that we do not need to fight for victory, but we fight in prayer from victory gained for us on the Cross of Calvary.

Spiritual authority requires spiritual submission:  You cannot receive authority without submission or surrender.  The centurion who came to receive healing from Jesus understood this principle very well and hence requested Jesus to “only say the word”.  

James 4: 7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God.  resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Only when you surrender and stand in total submission will the authority flow.  

John 15: 5 - I am the vine; you are the branches.  Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
Romans 6: 13 - Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life,and your members to god as instruments for righteousness.

Authority without submission becomes presumption.

Authority must be exercised by faith:  After the ascension of Jesus, He delegated authority to His disciples, but they had to work it by faith.  There was no sceptre or rod of authiryt passed on but delegation was by word of mouth.  The disciples received it by faith and acted upon it.  Faith activates what God has already provided.  Operate this authority over demon spirits and to heal.  

Mark 11: 22 - And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God”.
Acts 3: 6 - But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you.  In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”
Ephesians 6: 16 - In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.

Many believers are in fear of using their authority even though it is inside of them.  Their understanding is that only a few blessed people have this authority.  This is the reason they run to others to be prayed over to receive a breakthrough.

Authority is given for Kingdom purpose:  To fulfill the purposes of His Kingdom, we have been given authority.  In Luke chapter 9, the twelve apostles were  chosen and given authority.  In the next chapter we read that 72 more persons were chosen and given authority.  This is to preach the Gospel in every village, town and city - to heal the sick, to drive away demon spirits, etc.  authority may also be misused.  Authority is given to advance the Gospel, to defeat the works of darkness, serve people, to free the captives, to bring glory to Jesus.  

Acts 1: 8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come uon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Mark 16: 17 - And these signs will accompany those who believe; in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues.
1 Peter 4: 11 - Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as jone who serves by the strength that Gof supplies - in jorder tht iln everything God may ne glorified through Jesus Christ.  To Him belong glory and dominion forever and ever.  Amen.

The highest use of authority is service.  Even government officials are given authority - to serve the people and the country.  Because you have been given authority, walk with confidence.  You have been given dominion, do not live intimidated by fear, lies of the devil, oppression, etc.  Remember - (i) Jesus has won the victory.  (ii) He has given you the authority. (iii) He is with me.
So stand firm in faith under Jesus’ delegated authority.

Overflowing Grace

The focus word for today is ‘Overflowing Grace’.

The focus verse for today is 2 Corinthians 12: 9 says, ‘But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.’

Today, let’s all declare together ‘Grace empowers me beyond human limits; weakness becomes strength in Christ.’

Grace Is God’s Strength At Work In Human Weakness

Let’s go into the context of 2 Corinthians 12. God revealed to Paul things that were never revealed before to any man before him. God revealed about things that were to come, prophesies and visions. When this happened, a little bit of pride started creeping into Paul, as he was chosen by God with information that was exclusive. It is said in the Word of God, that to keep this pride in check, Satan was appointed. Paul prayed to God three times. To his prayer, God did not give Paul an expected response, instead he gave Paul the gift of sustaining grace. There are two types of grace: saving and sustaining grace. The sinners that we are, were saved by God’s saving grace. We are rescued from the pit of fire and pit of sins through God’s saving grace. From then on, our journey of salvation begins. Once we begin this journey, we might go through hardships and difficulties and it is the sustaining grace that carries us through. When Paul prayed he was given sustaining grace by God. The day-to-day grace that we experience is the sustaining grace. This is an overflowing grace.

Hebrews 4:16 says, ‘Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.’

1 Corinthians 15:10 says, ‘But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.’

2 Timothy 2:1 says, ‘You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.’

Grace is not merely God’s pardon. It is God’s empowering presence. It’s his Emmanuel presence.

Matthew 28:20 says, ‘and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”’

God Sometimes Leaves A Struggle To Produce A Greater Dependence
Sometimes God doesn’t remove certain obstacles from our life because he wants us to place greater dependence on him. A thorn was placed in Paul’s life and he prayed to God to remove this thorn. However, God gave him his sustaining grace instead, to ensure that pride does not take over Paul and he places his dependence on God. God wanted Paul to depend more and more on him. Sometimes, God removes the war and the problems to ensure that peace prevails, but sometimes God does not remove this to make sure that we place greater dependence on him and through this challenge he brings about goodness in us.

Deuteronomy 8:2 says, ‘ Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.’

God led the Israelites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them and to bring out the impurities in them. It is only when the impurities are brought out, that God can purify a person. Gold and silver is put under fire several times to make sure that all its impurities seep out. Under the heat, slowly the metal is refined to its purest and most valuable form. This is the same way believers are purified in God’s eyes.

John 15:2 says, ‘He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.’

Psalm 119:71 says, ‘It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.’

What we call intervention, God calls preparation.

Grace Turns Weakness Into A Platform For God’s Glory

Paul eventually stopped boasting about his strengths and began boasting about God’s strength and glory. When God revealed to Paul things that were not revealed to Peter, John, Andrew or Thomas, pride creeped into his heart. Every time this pride took a hold of him, he was afflicted by Satanic torment. Through this torment, Paul’s boastfulness left him. Paul says, ‘if I want to boast, I will boast in the Lord or I will boast of my weakness’. It is in his weakness that God’s glory is revealed.

The world admires self-sufficiency, but the kingdom of heaven celebrates God dependency.

Isaiah 40:29 says, ‘He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.’

Psalm 73:26 says, ‘My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.’

Philippians 4:13 says, ‘ I can do all this through him who gives me strength.’
The greatest testimonies are often born from places of weaknesses.

Grace Is Sufficient For Every Season

God’s grace is more than sufficient for us for all our seasons of life. Have you sinned today? God's grace is sufficient. Are you addicted to something in your life? God’s grace is sufficient. Have you ever felt stuck in your life? Almost like you are sinking into the dirt, the more you try to escape, the deeper you fall. Grace is sufficient to bring you out.

When Paul was troubled, God did not give Paul an unlimited explanation, he promised sufficient grace and his grace was sufficient. It was not grace for next year or next day, Paul was given grace for today.

Matthew 6:34 says, ‘Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’

While each day has its own troubles, there is also renewed grace everyday.

Lamentations 3:23 says, ‘They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.’

God’s grace is renewed and refreshed everyday.

Psalm 68:19 says. ‘Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.’

Our Lord’s shoulder is strong enough and broad enough to carry all the worries of the world. God is not expecting us to face today’s problems with yesterday’s grace. There is new grace every day. It’s refreshed and renewed to face the challenges of that day. Fresh problems. Fresh grace. To demonstrate this to the Israelites, during their journey through the wilderness, God gave them fresh manna everyday. If they saved up yesterday’s manna for tomorrow, it would rot away. We must seek God’s face everyday, we must read his word everyday for your daily spiritual manna.

God has given us enough sustaining grace to deal with all the problems that we face today.  Remember - Fresh problems, fresh grace.

Fruit of the Spirit

Focus Word: Fruit of the Spirit
Focus Verse: Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Declaration: The Spirit produces His fruit in me today; my character reflects Christ in every action.
God is more interested in fruit than gifts.
The New Testament talks about gifts of the Spirit and fruit of the Spirit that a believer must receive. Gifts demonstrate the Spirit’s power. Fruit demonstrates the Spirit’s character/ qualities. A believer may minister effectively yet still need growth in character.
Matthew 7:16 “By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?”
There are good trees and bad trees; bearing good fruit and bad fruit. This is how you discern between a true and false prophet.
John 15:8 “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
Colossians 1:10 “so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God”
Fruit outflows as good work.
God’s ultimate goal is not merely what we do for Him, but who we become in Him.
We are ‘human beings’ and not ‘human doings’. Who we are matters more than what we do.
Our character matters more than our ministry.
A mighty tree might look impressive, but what matters is the fruit that it produces.
Fruit is produced through abiding, not striving.
Fruit doesn’t appear because the branch struggles harder. It appears because the branch remains connected to the vine.
John 15:4,5 “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Psalm 92:13-14 “planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,”
It is when you stay rooted where God places you that bear fruit. You should stay rooted in one church and grow there spiritually. Many don’t bear fruit because they don’t stay rooted in one place. Be planted in the house of the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:8 “They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
The secret of fruitfulness is fellowship with Christ.
The fruit of the Spirit is Christ’s character in us.
These are virtues in the Lord Jesus. These are qualities of Christ reproduced by the Holy Spirit in us.
Romans 8:29 “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Ephesians 4:24 “and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
The Holy Spirit isn’t trying to make us better versions of ourselves, but instead to make us like Christ. He wants to mould us into Christ’s image.
Fruit develops gradually through seasons of life.
It doesn’t happen suddenly when you pray intensely, but it develops through different seasons of life- through trials, sometimes through your enemies, sometimes through new seasons, through your marriage, through obedience to parents, etc.
In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul vouches for the Macedonians for their commitment to the ministers and to the ministry when they went through trials. It is in seasons like this that your growth takes place, not suddenly during a prayer meeting.
Growth needs time, pruning, specific seasons, the right climate and patience.
James 5:7 “Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.”
Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”
In our lives we all experience disappointments. But when we understand this truth, instead of despairing, we can have patience for the work that God is doing in our character through those seasons. Through every trial in your life, God works to bring more fruit in you.

GUIDANCE

FOCUS WORD:  GUIDANCE

FOCUS VERSE:  John 16: 13 - When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you in all truth.

DECLARATION:  The Holy Spirit guides my steps and  decisions today; I walk accurately in His will.

The Holy Spirit is a guide, not only a helper:  Jesus did not say that the Holy Spirit is only a comforter, but that He would also guide us in all things.  A real guide leads us to the destination; he knows the route and also the dangers to be avoided in the journey.  The Holy Spirit is able to see what we cannot and has knowledge of what we do not know.

Isaiah 48: 17 - Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.”
Psalm 32: 8 - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Romans 8: 14 - For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Christian life is not about following certain principles, but following a Person.  Jesus is the Way, the Holy Spirit is the Guide and the Father God is the Destination.  Jesus teaches us that it is only through Him that we can reach the Father.

God’s guidance is always progressive:  He reveals the next step before revealing the whole journey or the whole route map.  These are the steps of faith.  The Holy Spirit instructed Philip to set out on a certain road and meet the eunuch.  Abraham set out from the land of Ur, the land of his forefathers, his wealthy background everything else to obey God and set out to a land God would reveal to him in the future.

Hebrews 11: 5 - By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him.  Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God,
Acts 8: 29 - And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.”
 Psalm 119: 105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

God’s guidance is more than enough for the next ten steps or even the next ten years.

The Spirit guides through the Truth:  Jesus called the Holy Spirit - Spirit of Truth.  He will never guide contrary to the Scriptures.  In certain circumstances, He may not reveal the whole plan but only certain specific things.

2 Timothy 3: 16 - All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,..........
Psalm 143: 10 - Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God!  Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
Colossians 3: 16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and humans and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
People tend to seek supernatural direction while neglecting the written word of God.  The Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures and hence it is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  He will always honour the Scriptures.

Guidance requires sensitivity and obedience:  We need to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit.  Guidance involves hearing God's voice and responding with obedience.  Redirection, impressing thoughts, warnings, are His ways of guiding us. The Apostles were directed to go out into the world and preach the Gospel once they have received the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  But even here, the Spirit forbade them from visiting certain regions like Asia and Bithynia.

Acts 16: 6 and 7 - And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.  And when they had come up to Musia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.
1 Samuel 15: 22 - And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
James 1: 22 - But be doers of the word, not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Clearest guidance is received by the most obedient hearts:  The Holy Spirit is a still small voice; this is the prompting of the Holy  Spirit.  

John 14: 6 - And I will ask the Father, and He wil give you another Helper, to e with your forever.

Fire of the Spirit

The focus word for today is ‘Fire of the Spirit’.

The focus verse for today is Hebrews 12:29 says, ‘for our “God is a consuming fire.”

The declaration for today is ‘The Holy Fire refines and empowers me today; passion and purity fill my heart.

God’s Fire Reveals His Presence

Throughout scripture, fire often accompanied the manifestation of God. It could be on Mount Sinai or anywhere else, God is often accompanied with fire and this fire is visible to those on the enemy side. Moses encountered God in a burning bush. The burning bush, while it burns, does not die out or wither away due to the fire, which itself is a miraculous phenomenon. This is what attracts Moses and when he does that he hears a sound saying, ‘Moses, you are not standing on a holy ground.’ Another instance is when Israel was led by a pillar of fire. Wherever God reveals himself, there is fire. Even the disciples saw tongues of fire at Pentecost.

Exodus 3:2 says, ‘There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.’

Exodus 13:21 says, ‘By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.’

Acts 2:3-4 says, ‘3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.’

The key word is ‘rest’. Fire speaks of a God who is not silent, passive or distant. God can come to us in any way, He can come as an angel, a person or like an element in nature. But that does not mean God is an angel or a person or an element in nature. It simply means that God is God and he can choose to present before us in any way or form he likes. We simply must have the wisdom to discern and recognise him. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit appeared as tongues of fire, which means that our God is a speaking God.

There are a lot of misconceptions about speaking in tongues. To speak in tongues is to speak to God, personally. It is not for the benefit of anyone else. 1 Corinthians 14 details what speaking in tongues means, its importance and how to use it. It's almost like you’re speaking to God in a code language that is only understood by you and him.

God appeared as fire on top of Mount Sinai. In those days, fire atop a mountain means there has been a victory or an important announcement is to be delivered. God appearing on Mount Sinai as fire means that God is near, heaven is near and he has come down from heaven. When tongues of fire appeared on the day of Pentecost, it meant that God had come down to live in you.

God’s Fire Purifies What Belongs To Him

Fire does not merely comfort, but it also cleanses. Fire has a cleansing, refining and purifying quality. Many people want God’s power, but God first desires Holiness.

Malachi 3:2-3 says, ‘2 But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness,’

Isaiah 6:6-7 says, ‘6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”’

Isaiah was praying and mourning out loud to God, asking to be purified and cleansed because he lived among unclean people. Placing hot coal on his lips showcases how fire brings out the impurities and cleanses a person.

Psalms 139:23-24 says, ‘23  Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24  See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.’

The Holy Spirit does not expose impurities to shame us, he exposes it to transform us and purify us.

A blacksmith when he works on the metal that he purifies, he continues this fiery process till his face reflects on the metal. In the same way our God’s goal is to see the image of Christ reflected in us.

God’s Fire Ignites Spiritual Passion

Paul tells Timothy ‘fan into flame the gift of God.’ We all have a spiritual passion in us, but there are a lot of things that can put off this passion. It could be our day to day activities, our sorrows and distractions. Without even realising what’s happening, these can put off the flame in us. But, fire of the Spirit re-kindles our love for Christ.

We should read the Word everyday, it should almost be addictive for you. You should dive deep into the word everyday to know more about God and learn more about God. The minute you lose that drive and passion, your spiritual flame starts dying out. If you lose your passion to pray and share the Word, these are all signs of a dying spiritual flame.

Romans 12:11 says, ‘Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.’

Psalm 69:9 says, ‘for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.’

Luke 24:32 says, ‘They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”’

A blacksmith when he works on the metal, he keeps putting the metal into the fiery fire. He takes it out, then puts it back again, and just when it is burning hot, he hits it with a heavy tool to change its shape, for it is only when the metal is hot will it be flexible enough to change as per the creators wish.

God’s Fire Empowers Believers For Service And Ministry

The fire at Pentecost was not merely given for an experience, it was given for a mission, to spread the good news all across the world.

Acts 1:8 says, ‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”’

1 Thessalonians 1:5 says, ‘because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.’

Fire that never leaves the altar, eventually dies down. But if you spread it across, then fire will catch on and travel across. Fire that spreads brings light and warmth to others.

God is not like a watermelon in your fridge, he comes as a consuming fire. Where there is fire, God is present. Where God is present, he will guide you and speak to you.

Bold Witness

Focus Verse: Acts 4:31 “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”
Declaration: The Spirit gives me boldness; I speak God’s Word fearlessly and shine His light today.
Boldness is the result of the Holy Spirit’s filling.
In the presence of the Holy Spirit, the first thing we experience is courage or boldness.  
There was a person who was afraid to even pray during family prayer. He would run out at any opportunity to pray aloud. During a prayer meeting once, the Holy Spirit strongly urged him to stand up and speak. He quietly went to the leader and shared this prompting from God. They gave him the microphone and he spoke boldly for over 10 minutes and everyone was stunned. The Holy Spirit enables us to boldly share the Word of God. If you are someone who is afraid or shy to share your testimony among friends and family, ask God for boldness.
This was what happened on the Day of Pentecost when the disciples were filled with The Spirit and boldness.
In the Book of Acts chapters 2,3 we see how the disciples step out in boldness from the Holy Spirit to preach the Word of God across lands !
2 Timothy 1:7 “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
Romans 8:15 “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.””
Bold witnesses speak truth despite opposition
The early church faced many threats, persecution, and opposition. They were attacked, sent to prison, and even killed. But they did not lose their boldness.
Acts 4:29 “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.”
They didn’t pray for the persecution to go away, instead they prayed for more strength to preach!
Acts 5:20 ““Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.””
Ezekiel 2:7 “You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.”
Sharing the Word of God is a command from God.
Boldness is obedience when silence would be easier.
A lighthouse gives out its light every day regardless of the weather or the storm. Like this, God calls us to shine His light always as the ‘light of the world’ regardless of trials or persecution.
Bold witnesses reflect Christ through their life.
Witnessing is more than speaking, it is reflected through your character and compassion. You can be a witness only when you have compassion for people and for their salvation.
Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Philippians 2:15 “so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky”
God promised Abraham that his children will be like the stars in the sky- the main promise was about the number of children, but it also means that we need to shine like the stars in the sky.
Bold witnesses trust God with their results.
Our responsibility is faithfulness. God is responsible for the harvest. Our harvest is not in our hands.
1 Corinthians 3:6 “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
In this passage, the church in Corinth was getting split across many leaders and division began springing up. Here Paul says that he came and planted the church, Apollos watered it, but at the end of the day, God grew them. All we need to do is be faithful and obey God in doing our part, the rest will be done by God.
Isaiah 55:11 “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Mark 4:26-27 “He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.”
We need to rely and depend on God for our harvest. All we need to do is our part and be faithful, and surrender the rest fully to God.

POWER FROM ON HIGH

FOCUS WORD:  POWER FROM ON HIGH

FOCUS VERSE:  Acts 1: 8 - You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.

DECLARATION:  I receive fresh power from the Holy Spirit today; I live and move in divine strength.

God never intended for us to live our Christian life in our own strength:                                                                Without getting close to God or knowing Him intimately or living in holiness, there can only be ‘religion’/  before sending the disciples all over the world, Jesus told them to wait for the power from on high; to wait for the promise of the Father.  The prophet Jeremisah teaches that a person depending on man or flesh instead of God is cursed (chapter 17).  Walking with Jesus, the Apostles had knowledge, experience, a prayerful life, ministry where they were witnesses to mighty miracles and also saw His glory revealed.  

Zechariah 4: 6 - Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.
John 15: 26 - But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about Me.
Ephesians 3: 16 - That according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being.

God’s work requires that God’s power work in us.  

The Holy Spirit empowered ordinary people for extraordinary work:                                                              Jesus used ordinary people for His ministry. Evangelists Charles Spurgeon, D. L. Moody, John Wesley - all were ordinary people who did ministry for the Lord.  It was not their theological training, wisdom, wealth or any other factor but the power from on high that worked in them.  The disciples of Jesus were fishermen, tax-collectors, etc., but when the power of the Holy Spirit came upon them, fearful followers became bold witnesses.  They were persecuted from all sides but kept on gathering together and praying.  And when they were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, all fear was gone and they went out to all regions speaking the word and salvation to all peoples.  People turned to the Lord not because of the fascinating language of the apostle Peter, but because of the mighty signs, wonders and miracles done by him through the power from on high.

Acts 4: 31 - They were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word boldly.
1 Corinthians 2: 4 and 5 -  And my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
2 Timothy 1: 7 - For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

The Spirit does not merely improve our ability but transforms our capacity.  A piece of iron when brought into proximity with a magnet and its qualities released into the iron, it too becomes highly magnetic and can be used for various purposes.  Similarly, when we are filled with the Holy Spirit we are able to do mighty deeds in His power and strength.

The Holy Spirit gives power for our daily living:                Not only for ministry but the Holy Spirit gives power to turn from sin, overcome temptations, ability to love others, endure trials, walk in holiness, be faithful till the very end, etc.  

Galatians 5: 16 - Walk by the Spirit.
Romans 8: 13 and 14 - Led by the Spirit of God.
Ezekiel 36: 27 -  And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

The human heart may be very small but it has a purpose to keep on pumping life-giving blood to every part of our body.  It does not wait to get our instructions but keeps on at its responsibility throughout our lifetime.  We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit on a daily basis that He may work in every area of our life.

Power is given to us for witnessing and kingdom purpose:                                                                             Jesus connected power with Kingdom purpose - to be His witnesses.  The Holy Spirit empowers believers to make Christ known throughout the world.  The disciples of Jesus were not intimidated by the powers of the time because they could not hold the good news inside of them and went on to preach to the nations facing great persecution and backlash.

Acts 4: 20 - For we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.
Romans 1: 16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  
Matthew 5: 16 - In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

There is a spiritual engine working inside each of us and we need to keep it running.  Our  ministry is not for personal display, but for the expansion of His Kingdom.

ESTABLISHED IN GRACE

FOCUS WORD: ESTABLISHED IN GRACE

FOCUS VERSE; 1 Peter 5: 10 - He will make you strong, firm and steadfast.

DECLARATION:  Grace establishes every area of my life; I finish this rooted and unshakable.

Grace is more than forgiveness - it is divine strength:  We most often connect grace with forgiveness, but it is beyond that.  Peter instructs that God Himself will make you strong, firm and steadfast.  Grace does not merely pardon the past, but it is God’s power for the present and the future.  

2 Corinthians 12: 9 - My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
Hebrews 4: 16 - Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Titus 2: 11 and 12 - For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in the present age.

Grace does not let people remain passive or inactive, but makes them strong.  We are able to lead godly lives because of the grace working in us.

God uses every season of our life to establish us:  Peter wrote the above verse to the people who were being persecuted in the first century by the Emperor.  What looked like opposition, trial in the fire, was actually a preparation to make them rooted in faith.  Job went through many trials but his end was amazing because he rested in the hands of God.  

Genesis 50: 20 - As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.
Psalm 66: 12 - You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

God wastes nothing that occurs in the life of His children - sorrows, trials, valleys of darkness and death, pain, crying through the night, persecution, etc.  There was once an evangelist
A. A. Allen whose family went through a very long period of illnesses and death.  Then he attended church one day and he was changed forever.  He received a miraculous healing and also the anointing for healing the sick.  This is how the grace of God works.

Established believers are not easily shaken:  Let us consider the example of a stake hammered into the ground.  It is hammered then rotated gently and hammered again into the earth.  This process goes on and on till the stake does not rotate any more.  It is now firmly embedded in the earth.  When we consider the spiritual context, the trials that shake and rotate us today are working to get us firmly rooted in the Rock that is Jesus.  This is God’s desire for every believer.

Ephesians 3: 16 - That according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being.
Psalm 125: 1 - Those who trust in the Lord are like mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever.
Colossians 2: 7 - Rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.  

Spiritual maturity produces stability.    Eg. In a region that was struck by violent storm and hurricane, there was devastation in most parts of the area - houses were uprooted, vehicles were destroyed.  But, in one area where there were many oak trees, hadn’t been touched.  On close examination it was found that the roots of the ancient trees had gone deep into the earth and also intertwined with the roots of other oak trees.  The roots were so interlocked that the trees held firm and could not be uprooted.  God says we are the oaks of righteousness.

Grace finishes what human effort cannot:  Establishment is God’s work.  We only need to cooperate and God will establish his work in us.  He is able to keep us from stumbling and even being subdued by trials and failures.

Jude 1: 24 - Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy.
Philippians 2: 13 - For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
Psalm 138: 8 - The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.

Whatever work God has begun in me will be completed by God Himself.  He is the Alpha and the Omega.

Faith That Endures

The focus word for today is ‘Faith that endures’.

The focus verse for today is Matthew 24:13 says, ‘ but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.’

The declaration for today is ‘Enduring faith defines my journey; I remain steadfast until the promise is fulfilled.’

Enduring Faith Is Proven Over Time

Faith cannot be proven in an instance, it is only proven over time, over challenges and over circumstances. The context of Matthew 24:13 is when the disciples ask Jesus several questions about faith, about his second coming and such. It is to be noted that Jesus did not merely speak about starting well in faith but talks about the importance of enduring faith. While starting well in faith is important, Jesus emphasised on how we must endure in faith and continue in the faith irrespective of our circumstances. The one who stands firm in their faith, until the very end will be saved in Christ.

Many people begin their Christian journey with a lot of excitement. But matured believers persevere till the very end. We must all persevere in our faith till the very end, despite our circumstances and challenges. Even if your desires do not come to fruition, or your prayers are not answered, we must all persevere till the very end as matured believers in Christ.

Hebrews 3:14 says, ‘ We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.’

Everything at the end comes down to the fact that we must finish well in our faith in Christ. We need to be a good finisher and how we started does not have a bearing on if we will be saved in Christ.

Luke 8:15 says, ‘But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.’

Revelation 3:11 says, ‘ I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.’

The strength of faith is revealed by its endurance. It is not merely enough to survive a major crisis and come out of it in faith. A one-time instance does not prove your enduring faith. An enduring faith is proven through continuous and consistent faith in the Lord despite challenges and unanswered prayers.

Take for an instance the case of a bridge. A bridge could be long, and built by the best engineers. But the strength of the bridge depends on the number of years it lasts without cracks and issues. It could have a grand start, but its endurance over the years proves its strength. Lasting strength proves true quality.

Endurance Is Built Through Daily Faithfulness

Daily faithfulness is the key. Great spiritual victory is the result of countless acts of daily ordinary obedience. All these small, ordinary acts of faith and obedience, comes together to form the great victory in Christ. Daily faithfulness grows through daily prayers, bible reading, trusting God and humbling ourselves before him.

When we read the story of Abraham, one of the things that we see is a period of waiting. Abraham and Sarah waited for many many years to receive their promised child. It was not an easy wait, and their faith wavered even, but they came back to their faith and persevered.

Psalms 119:112 says, ‘My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.’

Take a decision today that you will put your faith in God and will obey his commands till the end of your life.

Colossians 1:23 says, ‘ if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.’

Be unshakable in your faith, today. It is consistency that develops endurance. Consistency in prayer, in spending time with God and trusting God.

If you look at carpenters, before they start their work they sharpen their tools, and spend a considerable amount of time everyday sharpening their tools. This is how we must sharpen our tools. We must walk with God, talk with God, pray before God, every single day to sharpen our faith in him. In fact, prayer is a spiritual weapon and God says we should wear the armour of God everyday in prayer and in truth to fight the battles of our daily life. God connects with us in our hearts and the prayers that come from our hearts. God does not pay attention to religious recitals, because many at times it is recited out of habit rather than as a sincere prayer from the heart.

Romans 8:26 says, ‘In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.’

Trials Test Faith, But Also Strengthen It

Trials are not meant to pull us down. Rather it tests our faith, and at the same time strengthens it. Even Jesus said, difficult times will come, but pressure does not automatically destroy faith, instead deepens it.

1 Peter 4:12-13 says, ‘12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice in as much as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.’

Every believer will go through periods of trial in their life and sometimes we are even tested in fire. But it’s up to us to decide if these challenges will strengthen us or break us.

Romans 8:25 says, ‘ But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.’

Several God ordained things may not happen in our lives in the time that we want it or expect it. It may happen to us when we least expect it, in God’s perfect timing.

James 5:11 says, ‘As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.’

The book of Job answers the question ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ We must know that it is not God that brings us bad fortune but Satan.

The End Of Faith Is Greater Than The Struggle Of Faith

Jesus always pointed disciples beyond the current challenges to focus on the future victory and glory. Jesus always encouraged them to look at and focus on eternity.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 says, ‘7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.’

Hebrews 10:36 says, ‘ You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.’

Sometimes what happens in our lives could be the opposite of what we prayed for, but that does not mean that God is not listening to our prayers. It just means that we must persevere in our faith, knowing that our God is ever faithful. In the end our God will give us more than what we asked or hoped for. All we must do is stand strong and steadfast in our faith.

Revelation 2:10 says, ‘Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.’

The reward belongs to those who continue trusting in God.

COURAGE TO STAND FIRM

FOCUS WORD: COURAGE TO STAND FIRM

FOCUS VERSE: 1 Corinthians16: 13 - Be on your guard; stand firm in faith; be courageous; be strong.

DECLARATION: I stand fearless in faith; God’s strength upholds me against every challenge.

Courage is needed because opposition is real:  When you plan to do good, you will face opposition.  A convicted person repents and turns to the Lord - he faces a lot of opposition and ridicule.  Spiritual life requires alertness - always be watchful.  The human body requires sleep to refresh, reboot; ut the spirit does not need rest or sleep.  Distractions, discouragement and intimidations may come - face it all with God-given fortitude and courage.  

1 Peter 5: 8 -
Matthew 26: 41 -
Nehemiah 4: 9 -

Courage grows when people stay spiritually awake.  Watchfulness protects what is valuable.

Standing firm requires conviction:  A person without conviction is easily moved by pressure and opinion.  Daniel remained faithful even in a foreign land.  He was taken captive to Babylon - a pagan land in the midst of idol worshippers.  But he remained steadfast in prayer and faithfulness to the one true God.  The first century Christians remained true to their faith amidst persecution from all quarters because they understood that remaining firm would give them a place in heaven.

Psalm 16: 8 -
2 Thessalonians 2: 15 -

Courage is strength directed by faith:  Be courageous, be strong - this is what the apostle Paul teaches the believers in Corinth.  Biblical courage is not the absence of fear but choosing obedience despite fear.  Eg: Joshua had to take certain steps in obedience to the instructions of God before the walls of Jericho fell. Queen Esther spoke to the King knowing full well that she could be killed.

Joshua 1: 7 - Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the Law that Moses my servant commanded you,  do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
Psalm 31: 24 - Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!
Acts 4: 29 - And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,...........
A firefighter has to face many hazards in his professional duty and would be fearful for his life.  But this does not hinder his responsibility to rescue those trapped in a blazing building - he pushes on to rescue and fulfill his duty.  We need to have courage that overcomes all fear.

God strengthens those who stand for Him:   Believers do not stand alone; God is very close, He is by their side.  He supplies strength for the battles that He calls us to face.  Do not compromise or surrender due to fear or opposition.

Isaiah 41: 13 - For I, the Lord your god, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the One who helps you.”
2 Timothy 4: 17 - But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.
Deuteronomy 31: 6 - Be strong and courageous.  Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you.  He will not leave you nor forsake you.

SPIRITUAL MATURITY

FOCUS WORD: SPIRITUAL MATURITY

FOCUS VERSE: James 1: 4 - Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

DECLARATION:  Maturity is forming in me today; patience perfects the work God began.

Maturity is developed through a process:  Spiritual maturity does not happen instantly, but over time.  In this age when everything is instant, spiritual maturity is developed through time, testing and a faithful walking with God.  In Genesis 5: 24, we read of Enoch walking with God for 300 years and then he was lifted up to heaven.  300 years is a very long time of testing and Enoch passed the test.

Ecclesiastes 7: 8 - Better is the end of a thing than its beginning.
Hebrews 6: 1 - Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity,
Philippians 3: 12 - Not that I am perfect, but I press on.

God is very patient with us in our growth process.  It takes plenty of time and effort to bring up a child.  God too, gives all His attention and effort to nurture us into maturity.  Transformation happens progressively.

Perseverance produces depth:  Persistence and perseverance trains and matures people.  Trials can harden people or mature them.  We tend to pray that our trials may soon cease when we ought to be praying that we rise up in faith to walk over these problems.  The weak in spirit may fall away, but the faithful rise up in faith and come out victorious.  The Holy Spirit is inviting you to rise up in faith and be a conqueror.  Patience, stability, discernment, humility, endurance - this is how our character is built.  

John 16: 33 - In the world you will have tribulation.  But take heart; I have overcome the world.
Romans 5: 4 - And endurance produces character
1 Peter 5: 10 - And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Psalm 66: 12 - We went through fire and water; yet You have brought us out to a place of abundance.

Deep roots grow in hard rocky soil.  

Spiritual maturity displays in daily conduct:  Maturity is not measured by spiritual language or knowledge.  Spiritual maturity in a person is displayed in his words, actions, relationships, decisions, etc.  Character reveals maturity.

Galatians 5: 22 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, …..
Proverbs 15: 1 - A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Colossians 4: 6 - I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are and that he may encourage your hearts.

God desires wholeness, not partial growth:  God calls for a balanced spiritual growth.  Some grow in gifting, but not in character.  Others grow in knowledge but not in love.  True maturity touches the whole personality.  

Ephesians 4: 13 - Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
3 John 1: 2 - Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
2 Peter 3: 18 - But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.  Amen.

Healthy spiritual growth is holistic, well-built in every area. Let us pray for a spiritual growth that is holistic and encompasses all that belongs to us.

OBEDIENCE AND ORDER

FOCUS VERSE: 1 Corinthians 14: 40 - Let all things be done decently and in order.

DECLARATION:  My obedience and order attract God’s presence; divine order releases divine stability.

Our God is a God of order, not confusion:  This is God’s basic character.  In the 16th, 17th and 18th chapters of the Acts of the Apostles, we read of the ministry of Paul in Corinth and Athens.  Paul was insistent that all ministry be Spirit-ordained resulting in miracles, signs and wonders and not limited to debates or oratory skills.  Hence the church in Corinth was established through the supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit.  But later on discord, confusion and disunity crept into the Church.  It is in such a situation that Paul writes to the church in Corinth instructing them to bring about order and discipline in their congregation.  Order reflects God’s nature.  This is very much evident in the Creation process.  God first created light and He separated it from darkness because the two cannot walk together.  The sun, moon, stars, planets, earth and the whole solar system are in perfect balance - all revolve and rotate in their specific paths in an orderly fashion.  

Genesis 1: 4 - And God saw that the light was good.  And God separated the light from the darkness.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1 - For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
James 3: 16 and 17 - For where jealousy and selfish ambitions exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.  But the wisdom from above is first pure,  then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

Disorder comes from selfish ambition, but heavenly wisdom produces peace.  Confusion drains strength; order creates clarity and protects progress.

Obedience brings alignment to life:  Obedience places our lives under God’s guidance instead of personal impulse.

Deuteronomy 5: 33 - You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you.
John 14: 23 - If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our home with him.
Psalm 119: 133 - Keep steady my steps according to Your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.

Alignment with God produces stability.  Eg: The coaches of a train are connected to each other and move in alignment on the railway track.  Misalignment would create danger and even catastrophe.

Disorder often reveals neglected discipline:  Cluttered lives are the result of neglected discipline.  Disorder can affect time, finances, relationships and even our spiritual life.  

Proverbs 24: 30 and 31 - I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
Ephesians 5: 15 and 16 - Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.  
Colossians 3: 23 - Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not fro men.

Order is often trained up through small and daily discipline.  Organisation increases effectiveness.  

 Godly order creates peace and fruitfulness: Order is not legalism as some might assume.  On the contrary, it creates healthy space for life and growth.  

Titus 1: 5 - This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you.  
Psalm 90: 12 - So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Isaiah 32: 17 - And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.

Well-organised lives make room for peace, productivity and spiritual focus.

Spiritual Discipline

The focus word for today is Spiritual Discipline.


1 Timothy 4:7 says, ‘Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.’


The declaration for today is ‘Daily discipline builds spiritual strength; consistency establishes my walk with God.


Godliness Requires Intentional Training


 Paul is asking Timothy to train himself in Godliness. Essentially, this is advice from a mentor to a mentee. Timothy was a young boy when he set out to speak the gospel. It was after a few years that he became a prominent leader in the Church of Ephesus.


Spiritual maturity does not happen accidentally. Growth requires intentional habits. Firstly and most importantly, personal prayer is the first habit that we should all develop. Scripture must be studied daily, which builds our character and behaviour.


Hebrews 5:14 says, ‘But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.’


2 Peter 1:5-7 says, ‘5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.’


Joshua 1:8 says, ‘Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.’


Discipline turns desire into development. A dancer might dance in front of you for a minute or two, but in order to perform their best, they practice for years on end. Paul Wilbur, before performing his album in Israel, practiced for over a year and a half with the choir.


Discipline Builds Strength For Future Seasons


We must ask ourselves daily; am I just living my life night after night, day after day, or am I building myself spiritually everyday?

Training prepares people before challenges arrive. Athletes train for years before competition. An army doesn’t fight wars everyday, but they prepare their body, they remain vigilant, every single day. In the same way, believers must also prepare spiritually. Two instances where I commonly see people enter without training is marriage and ministry. Without proper training and preparation, many fail and struggle to live out their decisions. We see Paul training young Timothy to enter into ministry. He trains Timothy in all aspects of the ministry including the gospel, self-discipline, travels and such. When Timothy becomes a prominent leader of the Ephesus Church, Paul continues to mentor and train him through his letters.

Ephesians 6:11 says, ‘Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.’

1 Corinthians 16:13 says, ‘Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.’

Psalms 18:34 says, ‘He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.’

Hearts that are steeped in God’s Word are better equipped to deal with challenges that they face.

Firefighters only fight fire when there is a crisis. But they do mock drills everyday to prepare themselves for such instances. In an instance where a building is caught on fire, firefighters are trained and prepared to fight the fire, but a normal person who is untrained will not be able to do so. In the same way, we need to prepare ourselves in the Word everyday to deal with any crisis or challenge that we may be faced with. Preparation reduces panic.

Spiritual Discipline Requires Consistency, Not Occasional Intensity

The word ‘consistency’ is key. We should practice spiritual discipline in our lives at all times and not practice intense prayers only during times of crisis and stray away from that practice later. Most believers go through ‘occasional enthusiasm’, but this cannot replace steady devotion.

Luke 9:23 says, ‘Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me’.

Psalm 1:2 says, ‘but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.’

Galatians 6:9 says, ‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’

Small daily discipline shapes long term character. Continue to build yourself in prayer and supplication everyday.

When water gushes past a rock on a daily basis, the rock starts to erode slowly and sometimes even creates patterns as per the flow of the water. When you think about it, water has no strength, it just flows and a rock is steady and hard. But over years through continuous flow, the water is able to mold the rock. In the same way it is only through continuous prayers and daily spiritual discipline that our character gets formed. If we want to reflect a Godly character, we must practice daily spiritual discipline. Consistency carries quiet power.

Discipline Creates Freedom, Not Bondage

I often hear people say, ‘I don’t want a time tabled life, I want one that’s relaxed.’ There might be days when you might not be able to spend a lot of time in prayer because you are tired, overworked or sick, and that’s okay. However, it is important you come back to God, come back to your prayer and not fall off the prayer wagon because of that one instance. Your prayer life is for you, it is not for God or to please anyone else. It is to build and mold your character.

Some people resist discipline because they associate it with restriction. Godly discipline practiced diligently releases great freedom. You will enjoy freedom from destructive habits, instability and spiritual weakness. Instead of bondage, what you will enjoy is spiritual freedom.

John 8: 31-32 says, ‘31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”’

Proverbs 25:28 says, ‘Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.’

Romans 6:22 says, ‘ But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.’

Healthy boundaries strengthen life. Hence, spiritual discipline is essential to our lives. It’s not enough to have a sporadic prayer routine when you face a crisis, but a consistent prayer life will equip you to face challenges head-on while staying strong in your faith. Always be in commune with God in your daily life and set apart time everyday to spend time with God. It’s important to have an unceasing prayer life and a scheduled prayer life.

Wisdom for stability

Focus Word: Wisdom for stability
Focus Verse: Isaiah 33:6
“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.”
Declaration: The Spirit of wisdom stabilises my heart; I walk in sound judgement and divine understanding.
Wisdom creates stability in uncertain times.
In life we go through different seasons or even terrains. When we go through uncertain times, wisdom brings stability. Here, Isaiah says that it is wisdom and knowledge that becomes your sure foundation. In unstable seasons, wisdom becomes spiritual protection.
We all need money to survive, but it is not enough. How many rich people end their lives? To live life, we need emotional stability and wisdom as well.
Wisdom creates stability and balance.
Proverbs 4:7
“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”
Ecclesiastes 7:12
“Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: Wisdom preserves those who have it.”
James 3:17
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”
Wisdom helps people respond correctly under pressure.
When we think of wise Bible characters, we think of people like Solomon, Daniel, Joseph. They went through uncertain times but were able to respond quickly with wisdom about what to do.
2. Wisdom helps us discern what truly matters.
Many voices compete for attention. Fear is a spirit and has a voice. Trends, opinions and distractions speak to us. But wisdom helps us understand which voice to listen to.
 1 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Proverbs 2:11
“Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.”
Philippians 1:10
“so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ”
Imagine you could always choose the best thing for yourself: food, clothes, a partner, financial dealings. If you could follow God’s will for everything and choose the best thing, where would you be? Haven’t we all fallen short in places because we chose wrong?

3. Godly wisdom is practical, not merely intellectual
Many people make intellectual decisions with their understanding; but their understanding can be foolish. Biblical wisdom affects everyday living. It affects and is reflected in our language, our relationships, decisions, reactions, and every area of our lives.
Colossians 4:5
“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”
Proverbs 13:20
“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
Matthew 7:24
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house.”
The Word of God should be practical in your life, not just knowledge that is locked up. If we don’t apply this wisdom, we end up like the foolish builder.
4. Wisdom is received through humility and reverence.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Pride keeps away wise counsel and keeps people from listening to advice or following the Word of God. Humility welcomes correction. These lives keep on improving.
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
James 1:5
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
More than anything else, ask God for wisdom and He will grant it.
Proverbs 11:2
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
Humility brings wisdom. Teachable hearts grow stronger over time. There are people who don’t like criticism or teaching; they will not learn, but merely judge. Some people attend service to judge the sermon, instead of attending to learn or improve themselves. But others pray asking God to speak to them, take down notes, and keep learning!
Wisdom requires continual renewal. Pursue wisdom.
Isaiah 11:2
“The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge.”
Wisdom makes our life stable. So pursue the Spirit of wisdom.

IMMOVABLE CONFIDENCE

FOCUS VERSE:  Hebrews 10: 35 - So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

DECLARATION:  My confidence in God remains firm; I will not waver until His promises are fulfilled.

Confidence in God is a spiritual strength:  The epistle to the Hebrews says - do not throw away your confidence.  The enemy usually begins his work by an attack on the confidence of a person.  Godly-confidence is not arrogance but steadfast faith in God’s faithfulness.  

Psalm 27: 1 - The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

Challenge the challenges that life throws at you.  The young lad David rested his strength and trust in God and challenged a mighty foe Goliath.  David came out victorious.

2 Timothy 1: 12 - I know who I have trusted.

If you fear God, you need not fear anyone else.  Confidence grows from knowing God personally.  He is the Rock of Ages; immovable and unshakeable - you can always rely on His trustworthiness.       Eg: A mountaineer, however high he climbs or however rough the terrain may be, relies on his sturdy equipment to keep him stable and prevent falling from great heights.  Our God is the sturdy root we can always hold on to.

Pressure often tries to steal our confidence:  In the epistle to the Hebrews, the believers faced hardships, delays and opposition.

Isaiah 41: 10 -  Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.
John 14: 1 -  Let not your hearts be troubled.  Believe in God; believe also in me.

Discouragement targets expectations.  In such circumstances, we need to depend on our heavenly Navigator.  Eg: A pilot trying to land in foggy conditions relies on the navigator or control tower to guide him to a safe landing.  

Confidence must be rooted in God not circumstances;  Seasons change quickly but God does not.  

Jeremiah 17: 7 -  Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.
Malachi 3: 6 - I the Lord do not change.
Psalm 46: 2 -  Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,........

Confidence, if rooted in emotions, will surely go through ups and downs.  The reading of a thermometer changes according to the surrounding environment, but a thermostat retains and maintains and stabilises the temperature.

Persistent confidence leads to reward:  The letter to the Hebrews states that your confidence will be richly rewarded.  Faithful endurance carries future fruitfulness.

Hebrews 6: 12 - So that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Galatians 6: 9 -  And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
James 1: 12 - Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.

God honours steadfast faith.  Eg: those fishing for pearls need to go into the depths of the sea searching.  This requires a lot of hard work and persistence as pearls are not easy to come by. Persistence brings the reward.  Do not surrender in front of delay.  Do not let troubles or temptations silence your blessings. Strive forward in the sure confidence that God will see us through.
